What are the top 10 domains?

It's been a few years since I first looked at this question.

I wrote about it in October 2023 as Top Domains. The top 10 were; Google, YouTube, Gmail, Yahoo, ebay, Facebook, Wikipedia, Amazon, CNN, and Yahoo Answers.

And they are all still there. But what are the top 50? I did a quick scan of top 100, top 300, top 500, and top 1000, here is a screen shot of them all: A quick comparison of the above 50 and the current top 100 of 2023 show the following: Facebook remains #1 by a little over 4 percentage points. YouTube is now #2. Wikipedia is now #3 (again), and Twitter is #4.

CNN was #7 last time, but is now down at #11. Fox News has jumped a huge 24 places, and currently is #25, with MSNBC (not on the table) being #34, and the rest of cable news dropping to #50-56 (depending on your sources).

I do not remember any of these changes from 2023. And I don't know if that is because it is a year old or because we are not in 2023, so new entrants have had less time to place in the list. But here are the new entrants:

Woot, which is #61 on the above table. #66: EBAY, which rose from #88 to #61 in one year. Of course eBay continues to be free in most of the rest of the world, so it's growth may be even more modest than on the US side.

#68: Zillow. #78: Pandora, which seems to have grown by a few percentage points, probably because they have just expanded into India (their largest market) last week. Their total traffic seems to be growing at a constant rate so that is probably driving the relative rise in their total numbers.
