How to force install extensions on school Chromebook?
I am a teacher at a middle school.
My school has recently switched to using Google Chromebooks for all of our students. The administration is very committed to this, but I think that they need more time to get used to it and the software that goes along with it. So, my question is, how can I force install specific extensions for use in the school's Chromebooks?
As far as I know you cannot install/uninstall them by any means. If your Chromebook does not ask to confirm every extension or update you don't have to do anything. Google will just install updates for you and if you want to remove one, they will ask you.
Also, you can use Google Chrome Web Store to get Chrome extensions which they can install for you. But again, I can't say for sure if they allow you to install others.

What's happening in this video is I'm going to share, from a computer science standpoint, some of the steps that you need to make to turn off or block or unblock or change your Google school Chrome account from public access to everyone.
But it is important to understand we don't work very well when we don't have a way to control who is coming into our classrooms. It is important to protect and support the users of your Chromebooks so that we are all able to learn without fear of distraction. And, I want to share with you what we've done in the last year to give teachers and administrators more control in the classroom over their Chromebooks and their schools and their students. There has never been a day where I can count on my students to not use these devices. And there are all kinds of things that we've learned about how their learning can be affected when they do. And it doesn't have to be that way. We just have to make sure that they're not accessible by people who they should not be accessible by.
And I want to show you some of the things that we've worked on. But before we dive into that, I think that it's useful to think about what is our responsibility to keep our students safe online.
In September of 2026, the Department of Education released some recommendations for school leadership on managing a secure cloud computing environment within the scope of a school technology program. And they make some really good points when it comes to what the school's responsibility is to protect student information and data. The Department of Education acknowledges that, in addition to keeping students safe from cyber attacks and harassment, it's also a school's responsibility to protect students' identities, including by limiting the ability of third parties to view student information. And when it comes to cloud computing, they recommend schools should use security protocols and technologies that protect the integrity of student and user information, including using administrative safeguards, such as multi-factor authentication or restricting data access to authorized users. They recommend that cloud computing platforms should be required to provide transparency and visibility of student and user account information. It's clear that schools need a comprehensive approach to teaching students digital literacy and skills as well as preparing our students for today's tech-savvy workforce.
How do I unblock all websites on my school Chromebook 2022?
I have a school Chromebook with the school firewall.
I want to unblock all websites, because my school's firewall is very slow and I am having to download all of the websites again for class. How do I do that?
Here's what you do: Make sure your Google account is logged in. Open the browser. Type chrome://net-internals/#top into the URL bar and press Enter. Scroll down and click on Refresh. You'll see a list of all the sites that have been added to the blocklist.
Scroll down until you see 'Whitelisted'. Click that and it will remove the site from the list.
If you'd like to add the site back to the list, click the Edit button next to it and enter in the site's URL again.
How to get Chrome extensions that are blocked?
Google allows developers to distribute the browser extensions that they have created, but these extensions can be blocked or filtered out by certain users.
So to avoid being excluded by users, how do developers go about getting their extension blocked? The only way a user can block your chrome extension is by changing settings on their browser. A simple way of circumventing the blocking would be to remove the web content script.
If this isn't possible then you will need to provide some sort of authentication that user is using your website.
