How do I connect to VPN master?
I need to setup a VPN on a Windows desktop machine.
I got VPN client software installed on both my laptop and desktop.
I have a Cisco ASA 5400-X (8500 series) and I want to be able to connect to VPN master, on the outside side. The outside side is Cisco IPsec VPN server (which I will be configuring) and that uses L2TP based connections.
Since my desktop is already configured as a VPN client (as part of the above mentioned ASA, I need the same configuration applied to the desktop), I figured this has to be possible. The Cisco VPN client does use the L2TP IPSec connection (or something similar?) to my IPsec gateway and then it goes through. Is there any documentation/tutorials on how to use VPN master in such cases? Cisco has a pretty straightforward VPN for Windows which allows you to connect a Windows client through your local router: There's a simple guide here: You'll need to enable L2TP in the Cisco network settings for the router in question. The tricky part will be that your router at the office is likely a regular Internet gateway and it might be hard to get it to allow the connection to come from 192.168. To do that you would need to set a NAT or DMZ policy to accept connections from your internal network.
And keep in mind that your desktop will never be able to connect back in unless you've got the appropriate IPsec certificates, or else your router would need to store the keys of the clients certificate.
