What does disconnect from VPN mean?

In the process of doing a little work this morning, I found out that the connection to my VPN was not working.

In fact, after I connected again, it said: "Could not connect to host. The connection to www.baidu.com was
interrupted." But I have no idea how the connection failed. How can I make my VPN work? How can I reconnect? I had the same problem today and I managed to fix it by following the instructions on the baidu support site: The thing you have to pay attention to is step 6 and 7, where they are instructing you to clear the "cache" (memory) for the baidu search box. Click here to clear cache: /clear/caches/searchcache.html After you do that, go back to step 5 and 6, and press "Reload", and it will show your home page as usual.

How do I fix a broken VPN connection?

I have recently been on a road trip with some friends.

I had a VPN connection working fine in my laptop but now I've taken it back to my house it doesn't work anymore. Whenever I connect to the internet it works fine for a while, and then suddenly stops working. I have tried connecting to my home router to test if the problem is with my laptop or the router, and even when I reset my router there's no connection.

I also made sure my VPN was saved up before I left, because I don't have a router back home and I use my friends router to connect to the internet. Edit: Forgot to add, the VPN provider is "Hola VPN" and it connects through WPA2 Personal. Last edited by JTP; 22nd August 2025 at 18:41. Reason: Add information. VPNs are tricky things. Sometimes they get themselves into a bit of a tangle in the process of providing you with a secure connection.

This isn't always easy to do, and sometimes it can't be done. The most common reason for this is if the VPN provider is located in a region that requires you to use their VPN service (like Asia or US based services). In this case, the VPN provider may not be able to give you access to their IP block (which your ISP is probably located in) if you want to use their service.

There are other reasons why a VPN provider may not be able to provide a connection to you, but this is the common one. When you first connect to the VPN, your computer will try to create a new connection with the VPN, and the VPN service will then send you a new IP address for use with your connection. When it does that, if there is any sort of glitch in their end, it could cause the VPN to not work.

In this case, though, your VPN is working for a while, and then it stops. That's something the VPN service can't fix.

You need to call the VPN service to see if they can help you. They may be able to reset your VPN or fix their server to work better for you. It's hard to say without knowing what caused your VPN connection to stop working.

Also, your ISP might have blocked your incoming IP address.

Why does Express VPN keep disconnecting and reconnecting?

My Express VPN keeps disconnecting, and when it finally connects I notice it often goes into some sort of reset mode.

Is there a problem or something wrong? It happened again earlier today and I could not work until I could get my Express VPN up and running. Now it's back to working fine, so is this an issue that needs to be addressed by you? Thank you, and sorry for the inconvenience.

I have no idea what's going on. I'm not receiving any connection errors, I'm not doing anything out of the ordinary. All I did was update to 8.2.6 (latest available), then after it failed, went back to 7.11 and now it's showing I am connected.

I think its your ISP messing with you because every time your connecting I'm being sent to a different page or redirected to another site while im on expressvpn. I havent heard of any issues before but I did have issues recently.

I'm sorry to say your issue has been closed. You were able to resolve your issue using troubleshooting suggestions provided. If you ever have other issues, please contact customer service directly so we can re-open the case.

I am trying to connect to a certain URL via a new browser, Firefox, however when I enter the ExpressVPN URL into the browser address bar (ie: ) it sends me to another website. After following troubleshooting steps in your support doc: I have tried the steps but still not helping. I have checked again and again I am typing the same ExpressVPN URL but I still get the redirected URL.

I am having issues with trying to use the "ExpressVPN Chrome Proxy" in Chrome. When I go to it appears that ExpressVPN is trying to access my information but it appears that it redirects me somewhere else.

I tried troubleshooting step again with no luck. I can confirm that I am typing exactly what you are entering on the address bar. I am not typing any special characters or extra characters as I type it and the result still comes up as that.

Why is my VPN stopping my internet connection?

When I try to connect to a VPN server, my internet stops working.

The VPN connection gets established but my internet is still working fine. When I stop the VPN connection, my internet gets back online. I think this is a network issue but I'm not sure what it is.

Re: ? I am not sure that I understand your problem correctly, but it seems that you are doing something wrong. Are you behind a firewall and do you use DHCP? VPNs usually get internet access via DHCP. Are you using your IP from DHCP? If yes, that's the problem.

Is your router configured to connect via DHCP? I also have a Windows XP virtual machine on my network that connects via DHCP. When I connect to that network the VPN doesn't work anymore. So I guess that the problem is at your router.

But I am not sure that you are using DHCP. I would like to see your network setup.
