Why isn t my VPN working on my firestick?

The firewall is open and I have a direct connection to the VPN with no problems.

The fire stick just does not seem to be able to connect. It says connected for a while, but it doesn t do anything.

How do I get the VPN to work? If I can, how do I use it? I m a bit confused on this one. I have a fire stick, connected directly to my router.

I m getting a warning on my router that says its trying to set a new default gateway or something similar to that, but the only way I ve been able to connect the fire stick has been to disable my firewall. When the firewall is off, it connects fine, but when I turn it on, it does not connect at all.

The router is an Asus rt-n15, and I believe it is a Asus IPN15 Pro. The VPN is an OpenVPN, but I will take any suggestions on how to solve my problem. I m using the Firebox 1.7.1 Firmware, which is a modified firebox firmware. If there is any reason this would be different than the firebox firmware, let me know.

The issue was probably caused by attempting to change any settings in IpTables on a device like the FireStick that doesn t even have an IP address. I used the FireStick to connect to the remote site via PPTP and it did everything I wanted it to do, except actually get internet access from the remote location.

My point is that you have to look at your settings first. Change settings if necessary and then see if your VPN is working.

If not, read on. If you do have internet access from the remote location, the VPN is not the issue. A VPN should act as a proxy. It should not change your gateway or DNS settings. A VPN will also protect you from spoofed or hacked websites. If the firewall is configured properly (or isn t running) your firewall should not cause the VPN not to work.

FireStick doesn't need to have an IP Address, that's only a function of a router. FireStick has a built-in PPPoE or VCI network connection to provide a "phone-like" connection interface between your device and a remote site. This method is used with Cisco or other VPN equipment.

Is award VPN a good VPN?

If you are looking for a VPN service that is capable of meeting the needs of a medium or large business, then it will certainly be worth it.

The question is how much work it will be to get it set up. If it can be done in a matter of minutes then it is definitely worth it. However if it requires more work then you should look at other VPN services.

You have mentioned that the requirements for your application are not too high so I would recommend looking at OpenVPN for your needs. The client software is free and you can get it running in just a few minutes.
