I'm using the Netflix app on my Samsung Galaxy S3. I have Surfshark as a proxy on my phone, I also have it set to work through the VPN IP of the home internet connection. I have no issues streaming Netflix and it's great, it works perfect if there's no WiFi in range, but as soon as my phone gets to the WiFi home network and I start to stream Netflix, Surfshark immediately closes my connection to Netflix. The Surfshark settings say that it's connected to the VPN, it's not like it's not connected. I have "Use this connection for all devices" selected, so what am I doing wrong here?

It has been working properly for many years now so I'm puzzled as to why it's suddenly stopped working. I even tried using only the Surfshark proxy server on my phone, I changed the DNS to a different one, but it's still not working. Any suggestions?

I don't think it's got to do with Netflix at all. It works fine with anything else that I tried, like Youtube. It also works with the VPN at my office so it's definitely an issue with my home network.

When I unplug my phone from my home network, it can still use the VPN properly and it doesn't disconnect me from Netflix. It's just when I plug it back in again or as soon as I've set up WiFi on my phone at home that it stops working. Any ideas on how I can fix this? I know I could go back to using my laptop, but I want my phone to be able to do everything.

You need to make sure the Wifi at home has been disabled. A few years ago you could set a guest network in your router settings and use your iPhone at work. Now it's a bit more complex and you will have to disable wifi at home. In most cases that means a wired connection at home with a switch that connects to both the LAN and WiFi network. It'll let you connect to your home LAN and work over VPN. Your router will probably need to be rebooted.

No, it's not a guest network. We pay a monthly fee to a company that manages the network and we're allowed to use it, but they require us to use their router to connect.
