Does ExpressVPN work on all smart TVs?

We tested all the major smart TVs to find out. Here's what you can expect sipping your lemonade.

Whichever TV set you choose, it's not normal to watch a good amount of Netflix per day. But if you're stuck in the home for 10 hours of the day, Netflix might be the only thing getting you through it.

The problem is that plenty of TVs don't support streaming services straight out of the box. In fact, most big TV manufacturers don't even really support them. The truth is, you can't watch Netflix on most TVs unless spending a ton of money on add-ons and setting up these TVs to work with the Netflix app.

Most of these TVs don't even support Amazon Prime Video. Only the Samsung TVs support Prime Video.

To make matters more frustrating, the TV manufacturers are hesitant to support these over-the-top services because they don't want to charge overages fees. But guess what? Cool features, like fast-forwarding through commercials, are something many of us likely never use. So should you be OK waiting a day or two until your TV manufacturer changes its mind? Or should you get a TV that works with Netflix? And if it's not smart enough for Netflix, how about a cheap, no-frills set? With all that in mind, we tested five major smart TV brands for a large spectrum of TVs: Samsung (36-inch on up), LG (the largest TV models that support HD streaming), RCA, Vizio, and Sony (the smallest models that support HD streaming). What we found surprised us, but not necessarily in a bad way. We discovered that if you're looking for a fast-forward function and you're willing to spend a little money on the accessories, no Smart TV product we tested supports Netflix fast-forward.

Plus it's actually relatively easy to get Netflix on most Smart TVs (we're looking at you, Vizio) if you're willing to wait around a few weeks after release and pay for a limited-time add-on that sends a Netflix crawl to your set. A lot of these TVs work pretty well if you're not looking for fast-forward.

What is ExpressVPN for?

ExpressVPN is a virtual network, which means that it connects you to a 'network server' as if you are connected to a physical LAN; and keeps your traffic secret and safe. Online privacy is a pretty tricky thing, unfortunately, because it requires a certain level of knowledge, discipline, experience and a bit of luck, and this is where ExpressVPN excels. You have to connect to an ExpressVPN server (or servers) and try to make sure that your IP address doesn't show up as suspicious or worse, ISP-level filtered.

When you connect to ExpressVPN, your internet is sent through an encrypted tunnel, and the VPN provider (we hope you're using our) will protect your traffic using 256-bit encryption. Therefore, ExpressVPN is the best VPN you can use, considering that it will effectively hide your true outlook. So if you are worried about online privacy, ExpressVPN can take cares of that, request your money back immediately, and hope that a 'darknet hacker' doesn't find out where you live or work, and then show you the world upside down. Is ExpressVPN for Australia and New Zealand? Speaking of VPN plans, ExpressVPN is one of our lesser-known VPN plans and this means that you will have to pay an additional Australia and New Zealand fee. This doesn't include the VPN service. While you will get to cover a huge amount of the world with this, your providers (such as us) are still restricted in what geographical parts of the world that they can legally provide the service to.

And unfortunately for our Australian, New Zealand and South American customers, you can't use this. Therefore, if you want ExpressVPN for Australia and New Zealand, you will have to either choose another VPN provider, or stay with your existing VPN provider, and pretend that we don't exist (RIP Sony Pictures). Checking if ExpressVPN is right for you. ExpressVPN checks your location to know which server in the world should be your base server. This is important because we need to know whether the provider is banned in your area.

So if you watch movies on Netflix, or use BitTorrent, or use social networks, or anything that is related to the Dark Web, then you cannot use our VPN.
