Can you factory reset an iPad with just the buttons?
I have an iPad 1 (iPad 4th generation) that I've used for about two years. I bought it with iOS 7.11.6, and I did a system upgrade to iOS 11.5. I backed up the info from my iPad to iCloud, and restored from that backup on a new iPad (10.3).
After restoring the backup, I was prompted to delete all of the apps that I didn't want to restore, and the one I really wanted to restore was a music app. After deleting the music app, I plugged in my headphones to listen to some music, but my phone wouldn't pair with the headphones. The headphones are a 3.5mm USB cable, and the iPad is supposed to automatically turn on and find the phone or other device when you plug it in. I unplugged it, waited a few seconds, and plugged it back in, and nothing happened.
I thought I should be able to factory reset my iPad, but it says that I have to connect my iPad to iTunes first. That doesn't make any sense. So I thought maybe I could factory reset it by holding the power button for a few seconds. I put it on the bed and pressed and held the power button, but nothing happened. I pressed and held it again, and again nothing happened.
Is there another way to factory reset the iPad without iTunes? If not, is there a way to get to iTunes from the settings menu in iOS? I'm running iOS 11.5 on my iPad 2. I don't have an iPhone.
Thank you in advance for your help! -R
The power button is only one of the buttons on the top right of the iPad. There's also a mute button, sleep/wake button, and volume button. The mute button is what you're pressing when you hold the power button.
Yes, the reset button is located on the bottom edge of the front panel of the iPad. It's the button in the middle of the circle when the iPad is closed.
Does that work for iOS 11.5 or do you need to be on a newer firmware version?
How do I reset my iPad for a new owner?
If you're buying a used iPad, it's a great way to get a good price on a solid working device.
It's also important to fully understand how you can reset your used iPad for a new owner and, should the need arise, recover everything in your iPad.
There are two options for doing this: reset your password, which deletes everything associated with your identity (email, photos, apps, music, games, iCloud Storage), or reset the whole iPad, which deletes the iPad's home and other storage media data and clears all installed apps and data. You can reset your password using any of the methods mentioned below. To reset your iPad for a new owner, you'll need to reset the device's iCloud keychain and lock. Once the iPad's locked to protect your ID credentials (Apple ID password, payment card details, and credit/debit card information), a new owner is able to install a variety of apps from Apple, and add money to your Apple iCloud account. We'd assume that Apple has thought of that, so don't worry! To do this, you'll need to unlock your iPad. The methods are available below.
The reason for resetting for a new owner is so that a new user, who knows very little about your personal information and iCloud data, doesn't need to have to download or re-install anything from iTunes. If the person resetting your iPad uses an Apple ID from another device they bought or downloaded apps via that Apple ID or had other apps that they bought directly. For example, if the person resetting the iPad had purchased an app from the App Store, and is no longer wanting to use the app, they would like to know that they could still delete it from their device or reinstall it, and re-download and install it via the App Store. If the owner uses their own Apple ID, but bought a third-party app (via a service like GetJar, BigCartel, etc.), then that app won't be able to be reinstalled via the App Store. Resetting will delete these third-party apps from the device, so if a third-party app is wanted to be re-installed, and isn't included in the new owner's iTunes library (for apps), it must be reinstalled manually.
Does a factory reset really delete everything on iPad?
If you have iPad, you may ask yourself, ?
There are various types of information stored on an iPad, which can be divided into two categories: Information saved on the device's internal storage. Information saved on the iPad's iCloud account. For instance, all the apps you have installed on your iPad are saved in its internal storage. But if you have configured your iPad to sync with iCloud, the app data will be saved in your iCloud account.
All the photos you have taken and videos you have recorded can also be saved in your iCloud account. You can even share the photos or videos with other people by sending them to your iCloud account.
How to check what is stored in your iPad? You can check out what information is stored in your iPad by using the iTunes and iCloud management apps. ITunes: If you have the latest version of iTunes (version 10.6 or later), you can use it to check whether any of your data has been saved in the iPad.
ICloud: If you have the latest version of iCloud (version 9.3 or later), you can use it to check whether any of your data has been saved in the iPad.
If you want to know more about the two apps, click here. Does a factory reset really delete everything on iPad? No. A factory reset doesn't delete the information stored on your iPad. If you really want to delete all the information stored on your iPad, you should erase the content and settings of the device, which will delete the information saved in its internal storage and on your iCloud account.
However, if you're concerned about losing the information, such as the apps you have installed on your iPad, you can use the Apps, iCloud and iTunes management apps. App Information. If you want to see what apps are installed on your iPad, follow these steps: Open the Apps management app. Tap Apps.
Tap the apps you want to check. For example, you can choose to check all the apps installed on your iPad or only the apps that you have installed recently. Note: If you want to check what data is saved in your iCloud account, you should open the iCloud management app.
