Can Outline VPN be detected?

I think they do.

I just tried to look for a way to download it on my new Android device, and I can't find any way to download Google's OS to another computer or phone or anything.

Anyone know if it's true that they own that? If not then where did he get it from? So if Google is running it, then how does that make Android any better than other phone OS's such as Symbian, iOS, Windows Phone, Blackberry, Maemo etc? Android is an OS for everyone except those who live in China. I can see how Google and Android can be of benefit to the world at large by being available worldwide, which would include those in China. But Google wouldn't want to make money out of Chinese phone users wouldn't they. Maybe that's where this Google's OS part comes in.

Google is very much in the business of selling services, and providing ads. It doesn't do anything else. It's in its own best interests to be a dominant player in that market, so that more people use its products and services, which is why they put these back doors into all their products. Windows Phone 7 is a really good platform. No one else is even close. You might be right that Apple has their own thing going with iOS, but they're really struggling.

This whole thing about Google making money out of Chinese phone users is nonsense. They're making money out of all phone users, not just those in China. What the hell does China have to do with anything. Do people in America use more or less ads per head than people in Japan? Who cares. Don't think about it so hard and buy a cheap Android phone instead of thinking like this.

Can Outline VPN be detected?

Outline VPN, an IP VPN service, may be able to track your location and logs by detecting a VPN signature in the connection.

The service only uses OpenVPN protocols and therefore there is no information to provide location. It could still be possible for the service to make inferences about your location based on your connection settings and configuration.

How we gathered the data. We wanted to know how successful Outline VPN's servers could be in telling if someone was using a VPN. For this we set up a VPN server that had the following configurations: A web proxy configured to transparently forward web requests to another host. An application forwarding proxy configured to transparently forward port 80 requests. We then set up two laptops to connect to that VPN server, and monitored the IP address of both laptops using Wireshark. This blog post shows the results from that setup, including how close the locations of the two laptops were to each other, and where the closest laptop was to the VPN server. What we found. In the chart below, we show the location of the IP addresses in red, and the location of the VPN server in green: If we look at the location of the second laptop, we can see that it is close to the VPN server, however when we look at the location of the first laptop we can see that it is actually further away than the VPN server. So what can we conclude from this? Well, the second laptop was closer to the VPN server than the first. This means that the VPN server could infer the location of the laptop connected to it, however the first laptop was still further away.

So how close does the VPN server need to be to you to tell your location? In the below chart we show the location of the laptops for a range of VPN server distances: As we can see, the distance of the VPN server from the laptop has a bigger impact on its ability to detect location than the VPN configuration. We also found the following: When the VPN server is further away from the laptop, the difference in distance between the location of the laptop and the VPN server decreases. This is due to the fact that as the distance between the laptop and the VPN server gets larger, the difference in speeds of the VPN is bigger.
