Is TunnelBear free?
, to what I usually see is why is it in my iPhone?, to which I then often get the no one ever answers that response. I thought if this is a concern for any VPN users, I would address it here as well, and maybe even provide some advice for those users that may be interested in TunnelBear.
Before I do any of that, however, I want to first mention why I actually use TunnelBear, especially in its free/lite versions. From my previous experience with other VPNs, I have found that it performs better and better after each release they provide, and has more capabilities than other open source VPNs (eg. OpenVPN, etc.). In short, I like TunnelBear because they actively focus on what their product should be (an all-in-one easy to use VPN), and they provide it for free or less.
So on to the question. ? Yes, it is, but with a pretty big caveat. Their service is available in lite and free versions. The free version is called TunnelBear Lite, and comes with a handful of server locations, with up to 2GB of data per day, and you can use their app for up to 7 devices. It's free and unlimited, so there's no questions about whether it's really free or not. On the other hand, the paid option is known as TunnelBear Unlimited, and you can get all of the features of their lite version with just 1 GB of data, and more servers. You do get unlimited VPN power and can connect as many devices to their service as you'd like. So the only real question is whether you're OK with paying that amount for an app, and if you are (or can be), then you probably don't need a TunnelBear lite version, or a simple VPN, for that matter.
Overall, I have found their VPN to work just fine on the most part, and in fact I find TunnelBear one of the easiest and most straightforward VPN apps out there. TunnelBear is available on Windows and Mac, as well as mobile platforms, so no worries about compatibility.
