Is TunnelBear no longer free?

It would appear so. It seems to be free, but if you look at the top left corner of the screen you will see it states that TunnelBear is now ad-supported. I thought it would say TunnelBear is now subscription-based or TunnelBear is now a commercial application but instead it says TunnelBear is now ad-supported. Is it really? Please help me if you know.

I'm still running the current version and it's been fine, with no complaints. I'm still using it and my speeds are fine. I'm still using it because I use it and I don't feel like paying for it.

It looks like they would be moving from ad-supported to subscription-based. That would be bad, but that's fine, we all know what TunnelBear is like, and the company has an ethos of freedom so I'm sure it will find a way to survive.

Does TunnelBear work with Chrome?

Hi all. My friend has a problem that only seems to occur in Chrome. She's trying to use TunnelBear with her Chromebook and when she tries to connect to her TunnelBear account (via the Chrome extension) it just keeps on saying that it couldn't connect to the tunnel.

I'm not sure if this is something that only affects her or if it's just something with her particular browser and TunnelBear. I'm in the UK and it's an American app so it's quite possible that it's not compatible with her browser.

Has anyone had any success using TunnelBear with Chrome? Or have any thoughts about why she might not be able to connect? I'm using a T-Mobile G2 phone with 4.2 on Verizon and TunnelBear worked flawlessly for me. She should try this link:

I can't tell if your friend has it, but I had a similar issue with my wife's laptop. TunnelBear does not work on Windows 7 64-bit. It does work with Windows 7 32-bit.

My wife just updated to Windows 10 and TunnelBear doesn't work there either. This is one of those issues that are really only a problem for people with old hardware. Your friend should probably try Windows 7, or if she really wants to get TunnelBear working, she'll need to find a Windows 7 laptop.
