How do I add a VPN address to my Android?
Add VPN addresses to your Android device for access to your work network. Open the Settings app. Tap Network & Internet. Tap Mobile networks. Tap Add a VPN connection. Select Use VPN with the connection you want to connect to. Select which VPN network you want to use, and tap Next. Select a VPN type, and tap Next. Select your VPN service provider from the list. If you have a lot of apps and processes you don't want or need to access when connected to the VPN, select the apps and processes that you don't want to be accessible. Select your VPN location from the list. If you are using a mobile hotspot, select the hotspot name and the location where you are connecting. Tap Advanced. Select the option for Tunneling protocols (included in this option is L2TP/IPSec). Tap Save. Select the network you want to use your VPN connection for. Select your VPN type, and tap Connect. Your VPN address will be added to your mobile network settings, but you may need to restart your phone for the changes to take effect. Use VPN with your Android phone, tablet, or PC. How do I use my VPN connection on my Android phone? You can use a VPN connection from any device that can access the internet. It works well with both Windows and Mac computers. It also works well with most Android tablets and smartphones. The following steps show you how to use your VPN connection on an Android tablet or smartphone.
Open the Google Play store. Open the VPN app. Select your VPN network from the list. Tap Connect. If you have multiple VPN networks you want to connect to, tap Add another VPN network.
Is there a free VPN for Android?
Is there any Free Android VPN that I can download that will work perfectly with the Google Play Music? I see this article: But NordVPN was not listed there. Is there another out there I can use? There are several VPNs that claims to be "free" but it means "free for trial": Nord, SurfEasy, VPNArea, etc. They all use the same core and have different skins, so you don't end up using the original program on your device. I personally like Nord, in my opinion it has the most solid free version. It's a little heavy (the client) but if you're willing to invest a little time, you'll like it.
It can also access files of your device, if you have them in a location accessible from the app: you go to the folder containing them, find the file and then select it from the app. There is no password or anything though, and if you want to keep them private, I suggest you upload them on DropBox or something similar (Google Drive also allows it).
You can find some additional info here.
Does Android have built-in VPN?
I'm curious if Android has some sort of built-in VPN that works with your standard 3G or WiFi data connection? I know it can do VPN, but is there an option to just use standard data and Wi-Fi connectivity? From what I can tell, you'd just connect via Wi-Fi to your VPN server, and then connect to your device via the provided mobile network. Is there really no way to have a direct connection between the Android device and the VPN server? I don't know about other VPNs, but I've used Private Internet Access (PIA). PIA isn't really a proxy service, rather it uses OpenVPN to provide a secure tunnel through whatever network(s) you need to reach.
It appears you might be looking for something similar, or at least able to communicate over the internet for whatever purpose you may have. If you need help setting it up, feel free to give me a shout and I can go into more detail. Android doesn't come with pre-installed VPN software, and probably won't for some time yet (it's probably on people's wish lists for the next Ice Cream Sandwich release). If you need something that's already pre-installed, there are a number of VPN apps that should get you going in about 3 minutes, including the new Google IO VPN app.
