Why can't I download Netflix movies on my computer?

I know the title is a bit confusing, but what I'm talking about is more specifically, "?

" My question is that I can watch these Netflix movies just fine if I have an Android phone or computer, but when it comes to my computer, the file is missing something in the downloader's code. It won't let me download the movie, and all it says is "File Downloading Failed", I click "OK" and then it closes out of the screen. How can I download the files from Netflix without my computer crashing out on me? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Why can't I download Netflix movies on my computer? I don't know what you want here. Are you asking why streaming from the internet can't be done on your computer? Or why a piece of software won't allow you to do it? As for the former, it's been my experience that even if Netflix has their own computer software, it also makes great use of the Flash Player and browser software on whatever PC/Mac you're using. What most people don't realize is that you don't need a Netflix account, just the TV show or movie you want to watch, then you stream it over the internet to your computer (or TV if you have an Apple TV or Apple TV 2) and it'll play like it's on DVD.

When you get to the Netflix website, it's a simple process of downloading a file. You don't have to download the movies or anything; you can stream, which is easier because you don't have to download the file.

On your Windows 8 machine, you can open the file with Windows Explorer. When you click on the file, Windows 8 will automatically open it in a program named Windows Media Player. When you right-click on the video, it will say 'play in Windows Media Player'.

You just need the latest version of Windows Media Player and Flash. It might be worth noting that if you're not using a VPN and are connecting to the internet directly (through a router), you might want to make sure to put in a static IP instead of DHCP. DHCP is typically less secure.

That's why I don't understand the title of this thread.
