Why can't i cast Netflix to Chromecast?
I was having the same problem with a Roku 3 and the Roku Desktop app. I have a WD TV Play and it is connected to the same wifi as my Chromecast (2x links below).
The problem is that when you set up a device you choose "Direct" or "Direct via router" and then choose a router or a computer. The Roku Desktop app was only looking for the Chromecast device, but the WD TV Play was looking for the router. When you look at the Roku Connect app it shows you that the device is connected to the router.
To fix it, go into your device manager, find the device and click on "update driver". You can't cast Netflix to Chromecast. This has been known for a long time now. You'll be able to cast other things like Hulu and Amazon Video to Chromecast.
As of 7/8/2017, casting Netflix to Chromecast is possible! This is how you do it: Go to chrome://net-internals/#devices (or chrome://net-internals/#device in Chrome for Android). Locate the chromecast device (eg 192.168.50) in the list of devices.
Click the Edit button. Select Internet Options and change the Media Stream Restriction settings to Allow all sites.
Can I watch Netflix with Chromecast?
It's an idea that's been kicking around for a while.
You'd think it would be a no-brainer, right? It doesn't seem like it. Chromecast, of course, is Google's set-top streaming stick that's the first product from the search giant's ambitious (and still very much in beta) Google TV platform. It was first announced at Google I/O in May and has been selling at a discount ever since.
It's easy to see why Chromecast is so successful. You plug it into your Wi-Fi network and then tell it which apps you want to stream to it from your computer or smartphone. And because it's running Android, you can also run apps from the Google Play store on it.
All that might sound like a lot of work, but it's actually surprisingly easy. There are three apps that are important to watch movies on Chromecast: Netflix, YouTube, and Google Play Movies. The Netflix app is the simplest, but it's still not quite there yet. In my experience, it tends to freeze up every once in a while, but it's better than nothing. YouTube is a little more reliable, though the Chromecast YouTube app isn't a fully-featured version of the site's mobile app.
The Google Play Movies app is a bit more reliable. It works well most of the time, and you don't have to do anything to get it to work. You just click on the Cast button, and the app will recognize that you're casting a movie and automatically start playing the movie on the TV.
You might be able to get by with just Netflix and YouTube. But if you want to watch a few movies or TV shows on your TV using the Google Play Movies app, then you'll need to keep both the TV and your phone or tablet connected to your network.
One of the biggest complaints about Chromecast is that it's designed to be a companion to your phone or tablet, not a standalone device. If you have a Nexus 4 or Nexus 7, you can use the Chromecast app to connect the two. But if you don't, you can still use it as a traditional Wi-Fi router, but it won't be as good.
Where is cast button on Netflix?
Can someone help me figure out how to add an "I'm Watching" button like on Netflix?
I have the Netflix app on my iPhone, but it's not an Apple TV. Do you know if I can install the app on my XS4 or can I just watch a movie in iTunes/Itunes on my Mac? The other question is if someone buys a movie on Amazon Prime, how would they find it on Netflix? Do I have to buy it there and then import it? Is there a method to show all the titles on the iOS device? If so, where is it located? The only method I have found is to go to your phone and search for the title you want to watch, open the TV app and choose "Add to TV". However, there are no buttons on the TV that allow you to select and "watch" the title you just added.
I am currently using a Roku (and also own a TV) and have a Roku remote app. If I want to add something to the Roku's "Watch Later" section, I use the app on my iPhone. But, I don't have a TV app on the iPhone so it is not helpful in that case.
Now the situation with the TV app on the iPhone - there is no clear way to add titles to the TV app. You can see your library by pressing the icon in the bottom left of the screen and then select "Your Library", but there are no buttons to add or remove titles from the list.
If I wanted to watch a movie that I just purchased on Amazon, would I have to go to my computer, open iTunes and import it, then connect my iPhone to the TV via Apple TV? The only way I can think of doing this is to buy the movie on Amazon and then sync it with iTunes. Then import it into the TV app on the iPhone. Is that correct?
In case anyone else wants to do this, it's a pretty simple process. I bought a movie on Amazon, the app is connected to iTunes, and it was added to the iTunes library. I was able to sync the movie to my iPhone. I then used the iTunes app on my iPhone to sync the movie to the TV app on the Roku.
