Instead you are describing what is known as "browser extensions". You have an extension that has added some function to Firefox (ie one of the ones that lets you search for your own posts here or shows your "recent posts"). These functions all reside inside the same thing called "extensions". An example of one of these extensions would be "LastPass" to help secure passwords of your passwords. Once you delete this extension from Firefox it will no longer affect Firefox or any other browser.
