What is the latest Edge update?
I have the OS X beta but was looking for the latest Edge and Windows 10 update.
Unfortunately, as of Edge 44, there isn't a preview build that includes Edge v47. You can track the progress of the builds here.
It is also worth noting that due to the need to rollback, it may take some time before the .0 version is actually included in any updates. From memory, this was usually around two weeks after a build was released and I wouldn't be holding my breath for v47.
Does Edge automatically update?
If not, can I update directly to 11.10 via the web?
How do I change VPN on Microsoft Edge?
- VPN on Microsoft Edge FAQ
For those of you who wish to change VPN connection on their browser the process is fairly easy. There are various ways you can follow, and once you know your methods you can decide which will work best for your use case. Below, you will find various options to connect to a VPN for those of you who need it on Windows. Before we begin the steps that can be followed, let's explore some basics so that we can make sure that we understand our options. First, here is a screenshot showing the process of changing the default VPN options, and then here is the process in detail. In this example, I'm using OpenVPN based VPN since it's what I'm familiar with and can therefore give my best advice. If you are interested in an encrypted connection via PPTP, please check below.
1) Click on Settings on your browser, then click on the Network icon or drop down menu on a network connection (see screenshot). 2) Underneath the "More advanced" option should be a small box for VPN. This is where you can toggle a VPN on or off.
3) Depending on your version of Windows, there will be different VPN options available. Here, I'm using Google Chrome on Windows 10 - You will likely be able toggle on VPN connections on other browsers/versions of Windows. When choosing the VPN, choose a program that does support OpenVPN connections, for example. Remember though that once you open your VPN, the changes will only take effect on the browser. To further protect against accidental changes while VPN'd, the network settings can be changed using the instructions on this page, found by clicking on the Wi-Fi icon from the network icon. Once you have successfully opened a VPN using this method, you should be prompted to save settings again, which you can do as many times as you like to update if the VPN changes at a later time. It is best practice to save before disconnecting a VPN as well.
If there is no VPN available, there should be a check box in your network setting to be able to connect to the internet without a VPN. Now, lets discuss our options. In this example we have already seen how to get started with a VPN, and now we will discuss things such as disabling your computer from automatically connecting to VPN and creating a rule on your firewall for those times when you require a VPN connection.
Does Edge have a built-in VPN?
There's no built-in VPN in Windows 10, but it's relatively easy to setup. I do this with a Raspberry Pi 3 as my edge device and also run it on my laptop and other computers.
Install the Edge Insider Preview from the Windows Insider Program on your target computer. Select "Download to Windows". Select "Accept". If you have the Pi HUB app installed you can just select "Install Edge Hub" and then connect to your Pi.e. If you don't have that app installed, you can download it from here.
After you have Edge Hub installed, open Edge on your target computer and under the hood you should see Edge Hub listed under "Home settings". Click that and you'll see a VPN option that you can enable.
If you've configured the Pi to run as a VPN server, you can also select the Pi itself as the "Remote VPN Endpoint".
