What is a proxy for a person?

I often encounter someone saying "I can't watch TV because I don't want to see all of that awful stuff." You want me to explain my point? Here is the problem I have with this argument. You can go to a country where there is no tv, or internet, but in fact you get the opportunity to see the world in new ways. So you can go to some countries and see the world differently. You are missing out on something if you only see the world through the lens of America. That's just a small part of what is out there. It's why I have a few friends who are not American, and while we speak different languages, we get along swimmingly. I will go to a third country and start talking about the things we talk about in America, and our conversations will flow even better than they would here.

I just watched someone describe how it is to live in the US in the 60's. People are poor, the weather is terrible, gas is outrageous, racism is still very much alive, racism is one of the greatest barriers to the kind of world I believe we should strive for, and the list goes on. Just because people aren't perfect doesn't mean they should be completely condemned.

A proxy may refer to a human shield. Some people think that the use of an armed proxy is immoral.

What is an "immoral" action? If someone kills people under the guise that they are protecting other people, this person is committing a crime. I'm sorry. Someone has been trying to explain their point to you, and you continue to ignore them.

We're not talking about the use of "armed proxies". We're talking about the use of innocent proxies. It's like saying "we shouldn't let black people vote because we don't want to elect a black person as President". Just because someone won't vote for a black person, doesn't mean it is right for that person to prevent someone else from voting.

I agree with you that the right to vote is the most important right that we have. That said, we should respect the rights of others, no matter how much we don't like them. I'm not the first to say this, nor am I going to be the last.

Your point is still valid though. The point is that we shouldn't let people take away the rights of others.

What does it mean to by proxy?

What is the use of by proxy? Is it the same as when you say "by proxy" to mean "in place of"? No, it is not. To represent (a person) in the place of another: the committee appointed to act in his place. By proxy doesn't have the same meaning. It means "in place of", and that's not what you want to express.

For example, you might say: We can't wait to see you at the party, by proxy! This means that your friend will be there in your place. A quick google search of "by proxy" also seems to suggest that this is a synonym for "in lieu of". There is a similar thread on Yahoo Answers here.

Are you using proxy meaning?

, Is there something else that could cause this? or is the problem so small you're wondering if anyone cares?

This may not be relevant, but I thought I'd give you guys an idea of what this may look like. I am also a big believer in being as transparent as possible, so feel free to comment any ideas you have about this or anything else we've discussed so far.

One last thing, even though this isn't relevant for anyone but me, I'm going to release a v0.3.4 tomorrow that will hopefully have some fixes for this issue.

Edit: v0.4 will be released sometime tomorrow, along with some blog posts regarding this. This has been quite a tough bug to track down, but I think it's finally taken care of.

How do you use the word proxy?

The same way you would use the word porn. For example, if I have sex with my wife's mother, I would not say I ran through a porn site to find my 'friend' of the day. I'd just tell her that I had sex with her mother. If she asked what were doing and I told her that I'd been looking for friends to have sex with, then I would be lying. If she pressed me on it and asked what was on the site, I would say Nothing, really. It just gave me some ideas for the future.

The same is true when speaking about the internet and social media. If someone sees a porn video and tells someone else they had sex with a friend's mother, I don't think anyone would understand this as they would automatically assume that friend is a woman. It doesn't matter that he is gay; it doesn't matter that he only had sex with his friends mother; it doesn't matter that she has no interest in sex with him.

A male who is interested in sex with women would immediately be confused if his friend told him he found a female friend on the internet. If the guy had sex with the mother of his friend, no one could see the difference between an adult man and an adult woman. I mean, I can't, the two look so similar to me. It is a question of context. But people are too obsessed with the sexuality of men and so they don't understand that there is a huge difference between a man who is gay or has no interest in sex with women and a woman who has sex with men. We often hear people discussing women in a completely sex-free context, never talking about their interests. The same men who will speak out about women running around having sex with other men would be absolutely stunned if someone told them that a woman he had sex with was not interested in sex with men.

The thing is that the idea that it is sexist to speak about sex in a sex-free way is quite ridiculous. Women have sex for all sorts of reasons and often they are totally unfazed by it all. As for what is on the other end of it, we can't understand the motivation of the women involved.
