Is NordVPN still trustworthy?

Is NordVPN worth Reddit?

It's a question a lot of Reddit users have been asking for a while now. I'm not going to try to argue that one side is better than the other, I'm just going to look at some of the pros and cons of choosing NordVPN over an internet based VPN service such as Private Internet Access (PIA).

NordVPN vs PIA Summary. To be honest with you, most people who use both these services won't have any problems. I'll even go out on a limb and say that these two services are pretty similar. Both offer their customers excellent speeds and service. So, which is better? To answer that question, it's not that simple, you need to consider the advantages and disadvantages.

The main advantage of using NordVPN is that it offers free access to its service for all customers. While this does mean that you do need to pay, it doesn't come at a huge cost. On the other hand, Private Internet Access (PIA) provides unlimited free service but it comes with its drawbacks. You see, when NordVPN offers their free trial, you can download up to 3,000 MB in a 30 day period. When you use Private Internet Access, the free service doesn't come with any limits or restrictions. However, there are a lot of hidden fees that you'll have to pay.

If we look at the bottom line, we'll see that NordVPN is definitely more attractive than PIA because NordVPN provides a lot of free features and services. These include: No restrictions on bandwidth usage. No IP leaks. The ability to have anonymous browsing. Free DNS leak protection. The ability to download videos. The ability to stream Netflix. The ability to watch Hulu. A secure connection. An easy-to-use interface. An automatic update system. A 24/7 customer support. A seven day money back guarantee.

So, if you're looking to sign up for an internet based VPN service, why not go for NordVPN? You might want to reconsider if you're an iPhone user or if you need to get through a website that requires you to log in. To be honest with you, I know that there are people who are still using PIA for many reasons. This includes:

No need to log in.

Is NordVPN good for streaming Reddit?

I was trying to set up an account for use with their streaming service and the FAQ on how to get a streaming subscription states that to do this you have to be in the US. However, I am in France. Is there a way to get a US account in order to stream or will the NordVPN be blocking everything? I am concerned about some of my favourite TV shows being blocked. Will the VPN still work for what it is made for?

Is NordVPN still trustworthy?

I've been meaning to write this review for some time but, with all the hype about VPNs - even among those who are not quite tech savvy - people started asking me directly which VPN I would recommend and this review would have been useless. I would also have been in breach of my agreement to help protect NordVPN from any unfair criticism by providing a good independent assessment of their service. But since NordVPN has been doing a reasonable amount of PR over the past few months (and not as much actual work) I thought it would be useful to help people make an informed decision about whether they should still trust them as a business, not just an internet connection.

The reason I'm writing this review is because a number of people that I've chatted to have asked me if I'd seen anything on the blogosphere that has made me doubt the reputation of NordVPN. I haven't read anything since I started this blog so the whole of the blogosphere must mean something very different to me, but since NordVPN is my only source of income I don't want to put that at risk just so I can express my opinions on internet privacy. I have, on occasion, mentioned problems with VPNs that they are, or could be, involved in but that was when I knew they were involved with it. However, a lot of people now want a detailed response and I don't want to spend my time writing reviews for people I wouldn't recommend a service to anyway.

To help me to decide, I asked around and some of the things people were saying that they had heard about NordVPN were, to me, fairly credible. These included comments from people who have signed up to NordVPN and have had problems such as long queues, server failure or an unreliable customer service team. I also had someone tell me that they heard from a friend that NordVPN is known to track its users, which is something I didn't want to believe when I first heard about it and, indeed, I didn't find any references online, on YouTube videos, on the blogosphere or elsewhere that indicated that NordVPN tracks users. What it was reported to me, instead, was that their servers would sometimes fail and the support team would say they had to turn the servers off and back on again in order to keep the service going.
