Can Hotspot Shield be tracked?

You can't really catch the signal, but I see traffic.

So it's a bit like a DDoS but it's not as bad as that as your computer gets a little bit hotter but it's not really noticeable Well, I could tell you that I use HotspotShield and its tracking is quite easy (I'm not a fan of the company either). I have used my MacBook Air several times with different wireless routers (Netgear, Apple and Google), and always the speed has been a couple times slower than what I had with my old router. And as for being able to detect it - in the beginning I was paranoid and tried to make sure I didn't surf the web with the laptop connected to a network. I'm not in the habit of leaving it on all the time and, so far, haven't seen any problems.

All in all, I've been quite satisfied with it so far. But when you ask for opinions, you can't expect to get a definite answer.

Hotspot Shield offers a free VPN service. Does it share my personal data? Yes, by connecting to a Hotspot Shield server it is possible for us to store certain information on your device including the date and time of your connection as well as the browser you're using (in the case of Chrome and Firefox). There are no ads displayed on Hotspot Shield. This means that we don't need to display third-party advertisements. When does Hotspot Shield change my IP address? Every time you use the hotspot shield mobile app or one of our webapps, you will see a different IP address. This is to protect your privacy because every time you connect to the Internet through your computer, mobile phone, or tablet your internet service provider will assign a new IP address. We don't change your IP address but we keep a list of all devices that have connected to our servers.

How does Hotspot Shield protect my data? While we take your privacy very seriously, we are also very conscious of the fact that we are providing a free service to our users. As such, we do have to make certain compromises in order to keep our costs down.
