What is the magic link for email verification?
I have the email verification process in place to verify that a form submission is legitimate but the user receives one e-mail from the domain that they used in their submission.
When I get back to my inbox I get an additional e-mail telling me that my password has been reset and I should check my e-mail for details. (This is the second e-mail I ever receive from their email account) When I reply to the first e-mail I never get an additional e-mail. No matter what the domain is or what the type of form submission I am using.
Is there any way to change the verification e-mails so that they are sent to a different address or no more e-mails are sent at all? The reason I ask is because I don't want anyone to think my email is compromised if my email was used in a spam attack. It would be nice to receive an actual spam e-mail with details that my request to send my password has been reset.
As per this discussion it appears there is not a global solution on how you can control emails sent by the form, however you can control how many emails are sent based on the email id that is used in your form: It depends on the number of users on the system. Also check out this question: Are we missing a feature for e-mail verification on website signup forms? It all depends on what your email is set as when registering, but. ideally the system should not send a verification email or any other. email. Instead the confirmation link would be a redirect to the page where you registered your account.
Is Magic Link login safe?
I have an online bank account with a credit card connected to it, this particular credit card is linked to my bank account and is using the same password.
The credit card is protected by "password" and "pin", but the account and password are not protected in any way. There is a small symbol next to each in order for the card to be valid, so I think it is safe? It is just my bank, I am not sending money to or receiving money from anyone through this account.
Your bank is giving you one password for your account to access the internet banking system, and another for the actual cards, that you're most likely (not sure about your country) required to memorize. That's why they ask you to memorize your PIN on your first visit. If you want a more secure system, get a dedicated security number (or ask your bank for one), use it every time, and it doesn't matter what service you use.
Of course, they could have a problem with all of their security system, or the hackers might somehow get around it - but, you wouldn't be the first person they're making such mistakes.
What is Magic Link authentication?
Magic Link is Microsoft's authentication mode which connects to the cloud for Microsoft 365 and Office 365.
When you access services such as Outlook, OneDrive and Skype for Business Online, those services have to be authenticated. Once authenticated, you are then redirected back to where you originally came from, usually back to the Exchange Online portal. For those using Windows 10, you will probably need to make some changes on your devices, but this is completely optional.
Why does Magic Link require an Office 365 and Windows 10 device? The Magic Link Authentication process is based on using a combination of hardware and software called 'Magic Link Software'. Office 365, Windows 10 and other Microsoft apps and services require that information and authentication be provided by devices such as laptops, tablets and 2-in-1s, with the Office 365 Enterprise Management tools. If any of the above is not present, the connection fails and the user receives an error message. Note: You may want to use a USB key instead of a Microsoft Account connected to your PC - when using USB keys, there is no risk of identity theft. However, if you already use a Microsoft account and prefer it to a key, you may do that.
We recommend using an USB key. However if you choose not to use a USB key, the process will be similar but less streamlined, but you can use any computer or mobile device you wish.
Can Magic Link connect to services that don't support it? For example, many non-Enterprise/Microsoft 365 service providers currently do not yet support Magic Link, but will in the future. This means that the connection may stop working, even for those using a compatible device. For example, Skype for Business Online may stop working in the near future (see below) and the connection may be lost, even when running on a supported device. A workaround to this is to always go to the Exchange Online portal anyway.
Other solutions include: Try Magic Link on another device, such as a smartphone or tablet. Note that all the required information will still be saved under a Microsoft Account.
Check the supported devices below. What does Magic Link require from the service?
When should I use a magic link?
I have an account on another website, but they also have a forum and chat and a lot of people don't have an account, so i'm wondering if I should sign up to their forum.
I don't really care about chat or email but I'd really like a forum. I can imagine that if I had hundreds of members on my forum I'd use a magic link to make the process easier for the members. But how much time would it take for the members to signup for a forum with a few hundred members? Would they get annoyed if I just spam them with the magic link?
I think it depends on how you feel about your own site. There's no rule about it being good or bad. If you want people to sign up for a forum on your site, you'll probably be more successful by giving them a reason to visit the site.
You can use a "magic link" to make the signup more attractive for your visitors. But you shouldn't just spam them with the link. I guess you can do that, but I wouldn't recommend it. You don't know how many people are going to signup for the forum, so you can't predict how many links you're going to need to send out. It might even piss them off.
Use the magic link, if you want to. You don't have to explain what it is, you don't have to explain why they should signup, etc. Just send them to a forum. But don't spam them.
Just a couple of things to consider: 1) Have a look at the forums you're trying to promote, and see what types of threads they have going on. If those don't seem relevant to your interests, then you could try creating your own thread or sub-forum on your forum.
2) Make sure that there is a way for members to contact each other easily. A simple search function or contact form on your forum would be good for this.
3) You should never spam people on forums. It's very rude. People are already frustrated about not getting enough attention from the owner of the site, so you don't want to add to that by spamming them.
4) You should also make it easy for your members to find topics of interest to them. Make sure that you have a search function on your site.
Does Magic Link really work?
We've all heard stories about the magic of love.
When you find that one person who completes you and makes you whole. When you discover that special spark that takes you on a lifelong journey of love and adventure. And when you find that person, it's hard not to gush about it - in words and in pictures. We can't help ourselves - the feeling is too powerful.
And so our hearts skip a beat, our cheeks blush, our fingers tingle and our dreams are suddenly filled with that person who could be the very one If only we could have them in our lives for a little longer. But sadly, real life doesn't often allow you to have just one person for a lifetime. You can't just hang out with them every night. Or get romantic on vacation, or even spend time in a committed relationship. We don't always have the perfect person right there with us every day. We can't always share those special moments with someone who means the most to us.
So as we look at our lives and wonder what will come next, how can we feel something that big, that deep? If we are lucky enough to meet the person we will spend the rest of our lives with, what else can we do to make sure that it is one that we want to share with others? So why not make that happen? Why not make them the kind of person you are meant to share your life with. Why not make them into the person they are meant to be? In fact, why not make the one you already have into the one you are meant to be with? It can be done. But you need to understand that this is a process - something that takes commitment and effort. It's a process that doesn't end after one or two sessions. That doesn't end with an 'I love you' moment. It doesn't end with a gift or a kiss. It's a process that takes commitment. A process that is based on something deeper than emotions - and instead is built on trust. Trust that you are each doing the best thing for yourself and for your relationship.
In short, it's a process of healing. You're working together to create a relationship that works for both of you.
