How do I find proxy settings on my iPad?

How do I set up auto proxy on my iPad?

I'd like to use an iPad as a way to display web content on a larger screen.

How do I configure it so that if I'm connected to a corporate wifi (or anything else that has an IP address), the iPad will automatically use the server's proxy settings? You have a few options, depending on your needs and your organization. If you're just interested in automatically using the proxy when on a corporate network, there's no need to do anything special. You're going to need to sign in to the Wi-Fi network manually, and configure Safari to use the proxy settings of your company.

However, if you'd like to be able to use the proxy from any network, you'll need to do some extra work. There are two main methods of doing this. The first is configuring the Mac to do it for you, and the second is using an application on the iPad.

Mac Config. The simplest method is to configure the Mac to automatically use the proxy settings of your company. To do this, go to System Preferences > Network > Advanced. Under "Automatically Configure Network Settings for This Network," tick "Proxy for All Networks" (you can tick the option for only Wi-Fi networks if you want). After you click OK, you should be able to connect to the Wi-Fi network and then connect to the Internet via the proxy.

Using an Application. The easiest way to get around the problem of setting up the Mac automatically is to use a tool that lets you access the proxy on a computer. The most popular proxy tool for OS X is called Unblock-us. You can install it by following these instructions. Once installed, you can either download the app, or open up the Web Inspector and choose "proxy" from the Network tab.

A free, open source app called Firejail lets you change your proxy settings on the fly. If you want to use this, you'll need to set up a proxy server on your network. A proxy server is a server on your network that acts as a gateway between your device and the rest of the Internet.

If you're using an iOS device, you could install the Proxy.io app, but they haven't updated the app since 2025. Another option is to use an app called SOCKSify.

How do I turn off proxy on iPad?

I'm trying to turn off the default proxy on my ipad (I'm using my ipad as a hotspot using the wifi on my Verizon iPad2). It's working great, but I can't seem to get it to work. I've tried a variety of different settings in the settings app and nothing is working. I want to be able to switch back to using the wifi directly from my hotspot, which is exactly how I was using it before I messed around with the proxy settings.

For reference, I was using something like this: )
Which works great until the new iPad came out, so I am trying to figure out how to do the same thing now. I have also tried to turn off all networks and then try to set it to wifi only, which didn't work at all either. Anyone have any ideas?
Go to Settings>Network>Wifi>Advanced>Wifi Assist. Untick "Require Wifi Assist" and "Connect to Cellular network automatically". This will turn your tablet off wifi assist. If you have cellular data or are not in range of a Wi-Fi network then this will save battery.

To re-enable connectivity with your hotspot, set the required wifi level on the router to maximum.

How do I get proxy settings?

How can I find or set proxy settings?

In Windows 7, I tried the net.connect function and got all error messages I could get pasting into a web browser. There is no 'system proxy settings' control panel applet for use. Am I missing something obvious?

1 Answer.
I didn't find a way in the Win7 GUI so you'll need a command line to do this.config /v DefaultValue set ProxyOverride=%HTTPPROXY%. Reg query HKCUSoftwareClassesHTTPPROXYSettingshttp.config /v DefaultValue timeout 2 >NUL. Ping google.com Timeout - check for a list of proxies using reg query. Connect - Set the proxy in Internet Explorer. Ping - Show the proxy isn't being set. You don't really have to run the whole script since it will have set the proxy on connect to all applications (this script does not). You can then open a command prompt and run: applst. And see which ones have been set. If you need it to be persistent then save these settings as a file with the name http.config and create the directory where the script will look for that file for the registry value to get saved: I did it the first time (I don't know if it was in the same day or a month later. I wasn't exactly sure why there were 2 of them. The next time I went to start a new session in IE, it worked without having to set the proxy).

How do I find proxy settings on my iPad?

I bought a new iPad to take advantage of the features but so far there is one feature I cannot use. The ability to run a desktop app on the iPad or even better, web apps. I cannot find any settings to turn on the proxies. I went to and typed in my ip address but it would not even try to connect. Has anyone else had problems with this and if so what is the solution?

Re: How do I find proxy settings on my iPad? It is a common problem. Some iPad have no proxy settings at all. Others (like mine) have proxy settings already enabled but they still do not work. That's because Apple only support HTTP and HTTPS (and not FTP) for proxies. So Apple won't enable proxies that can do other things than HTTP and HTTPS.

This is a workaround: You select one type (say HTTPS) and then choose the type of proxy. Choose to "Use custom proxy settings" and add your own proxy IP address. Don't use your iPad internal IP address but your external IP address or better yet the ISP's IP address. After all the Apple store must use that proxy.

Once you start iTunes you will see a warning about your proxy IP but it will be fine. You don't need to do anything on your iPad. When you start itunes next time it will work.

Alternatively you can switch your iPad to another WiFi connection. If you are just using Safari you don't need to do anything as it will automatically use a proxy. Thanks Bobbi.e. I have now given that a try but no luck. I'm able to get to itunes now but when I click on the App Store icon to go to the actual App Store website it just returns the standard apple page. I can only assume that I did the settings incorrectly. I have tried every possible combination of proxy types and they all seem to get stuck at the same place.
