Why does it keep saying I don t have permission to access on this server?

How do I fix access denied on this server on my iPhone?

I have tried all the recommended solutions for fixing access denied to a file on a server but none of them worked.

My problem: I am able to pull out the file from the server but I am not able to view it on my iPhone and my iPad. How do I fix this? I have changed ownership of the file to 0777. Also tried giving full permission. I'd first try pulling out the file from your machine, looking in File Sharing, seeing if you can view it from there. If you can't then do some debugging to get an idea what's going wrong on the server. If IIS is up and running, I'd look at Logs/W3C logs. Do you see any errors when you try to open the file? If so what are they and why aren't they occurring on your local machine.

I m trying to log in with the FTP client.

It s a standard ftp client, not some new proprietary crap from microsoft.

As you can probably tell from my previous posts, I m pretty new to this kind of stuff. I m assuming that I will be granted access to the files once I get past this problem.

So here is the problem. The file says: "Your username and password are incorrect." I m using a web-hosted shared account. Can anyone tell me what my username and password are supposed to be? I entered them when setting up my shared account. (the host has their own control panel where I can change the information)

"The host server requires a secure connection (SSL). If you have a certificate, download it here" I downloaded an .crt from my host and put it in the cert folder on my computer. I did what you told me and everything is working now. Thanks!

I guess I m going to be forced to learn another application to make an FTP server, which seems kind of dumb considering that the built-in FTP client worked just fine. I guess the only solution is to buy yet another application just to make this thing work.
