Can I block specific apps on iPhone?
I just finished reading an article about how you can jailbreak and then install Cydia (a great, totally legit jailbreak) and the next question is can you actually block apps in Cydia, such as iBlock or NoBlank. When it's installed, it opens in Preferences > Package Settings > iBlock and you'll see an option to "Remove all blocked apps from Cydia". However, I've looked for that setting, and it doesn't appear. Is there a way to go about blocking apps?
I'm not referring to the jailbreak situation, but rather the Cydia app installation process. Thanks for any info you can give me. I hope it's easy for you to answer :) I just finished reading an article about how you can jailbreak and then install Cydia (a great, totally legit jailbreak) and the next question is can you actually block apps in Cydia, such as iBlock or NoBlank. I hope it's easy for you to answer :) No there is no way to block apps on Cydia, the only thing that can be blocked is iBlock. There are 2 different jailbreaking communities in iOS: the first group is the iPhone Dev Team, the other one is called the Chronic Dev Team, you can see what they do by using Google. Chronic Dev Team is a group of hackers that make tweaks for jailbroken iPhones and Cydia is their custom application so you won't be able to block the way they block apps, but you can block them with iBlock.
You can also use iBlock to block websites (although some have figured out how to defeat it, I'm talking here about blocking any website but that's a whole other topic), and if you like block applications you can try one of these apps: Calex Apps, AppBouncer, AppSwitcher, Blocker and a couple others.
How do I completely block an app?
Recently I heard a developer mention how he had completely blocked an app. What is this? Is this possible? How? The easiest way to completely block an app is to open up the phone settings and disable all the services that it uses. This will work on devices running android 2.2 or higher.
You can also try and use task killers like "Kill Switch" but there are many apps that use the same kill switch and you'll just end up killing your own app.
How do I block a specific app from being downloaded?
I would like to know how I can block a specific app (in this case a game) from being downloaded through play store and app store, just like you would with the anti-virus but more in depth. The reason being that this game is a 'rogue' game that has been downloaded but I do not want my daughters to have access to it. They don't know how to download apps.
They are only on iOS, no android. You can use the firewall. Go to Settings > Firewall > set Block Unknown Sources to On.
That should be enough to make your daughter not able to download it.
