How to authenticate a proxy server on a Mac?
What I have is a Mac which is on a corporate network.
What I want to do is connect to the internet through the corporate network without being tracked.
What I did was I configured the Mac's proxy settings to use a proxy server and it worked perfectly! Problem is now when I reboot my Mac, the proxy settings get wiped out. I've read many articles on how to configure a proxy on a Mac (eg here and here), but none of them works.
I'm using OS X version 10.7.5. I tried using these two commands:
Curl -sL 168.1:8080 I even restarted the network settings service. No luck so far. I think maybe my Mac is not connected to the internet? If so, I should be able to use "ping www.google.com" and it should return the right IP address right?
I solved it by following this tutorial. It uses a DNS server instead of a proxy server.
