Which is better NordVPN or PureVPN?
NordVPN is one of the most popular and reputable VPN providers out there.
In this post, we will take a look at both NordVPN and PureVPN side-by-side. Is one service better than the other? Is one provider more secure than the other? We'll answer these questions and more.
Before we get started though, if you're looking to get a high-quality VPN service at a low price, then NordVPN is the best choice out there! There's no way around that. But if you're looking for a reliable VPN, then you should really consider looking into PureVPN. With the exception of some minor quirks (we'll get to those later on) we highly recommend giving PureVPN a try!
So now that we have that out of the way, let's get into the details. Overview of NordVPN vs PureVPN. With a few exceptions, PureVPN is similar to NordVPN. It is also owned by the same parent company, Playground Global. Both services are completely free and come with a 30-day money back guarantee.
The main difference between these two providers is in terms of the number of servers they have. With NordVPN you'll have access to over 5,000 servers in 75 different countries. These servers are located across 6 different continents (Asia, Europe, North America, South America, Africa, and Oceania).
With PureVPN, you'll only have access to about 200 servers located across 4 different continents (Europe, Asia, North America, and Australia/New Zealand). On the downside, NordVPN is a bit more expensive than PureVPN. However, the extra cost is more than justified by the superior quality and feature set of their service. NordVPN is the second best VPN service we've ever used, right behind our beloved VPN Unlimited.
NordVPN is an incredibly powerful VPN that comes with an abundance of features. Here are some of the most important features you'll enjoy with NordVPN.
Top Server Locations: NordVPN offers access to over 5,000 servers located in 75 different countries. That's a lot more than PureVPN and it's all very well organized.
Is PureVPN better than Surfshark?
I just signed up for a 4-year contract with Surfshark and I have never paid any money before.
The service is really good. Does anyone know of a similar service that is worth it? Would PureVPN be worth it? I do research before I sign up on services because of the time commitment and money cost and so far, Surfshark is definitely my #1. Thanks in advance.
Re: PureVPN vs Surfshark. PureVPN has excellent reviews among PC & mobile VPN users. They have an excellent server network and offer unlimited data with their VPN services.50.
Thank you. I am sure they are not a bad service. But like you said, if I use OpenDNS DNS, then do I have to pay extra? Because I am paying for the unlimited data and I can't see why I have to upgrade DNS.
I actually found a solution with their 3 month plan and a coupon.95.
Anyway thanks for the reply. I am glad to hear they are offering the coupons. Maybe I should give that a try.
As you're going for a 4-year package though, it's hard to be sure your going to make much savings. My bet is that you will end up spending about the same. Sure it's nice to have more money in your pocket now, but if you have to pay the same amount for a service over four years, it may not be so good.
For VPN software, not a bad question. For OpenDNS, no. It's built into iOS, and the iPhone works with the standard OpenDNS dns servers. Not the iOS ones.
What country is PureVPN based in?
I have noticed that some of my friends use PureVPN to bypass the government's Great Firewall in China.
The most I heard was, when they connect to a server located in Shanghai, their web browsing is much faster because it uses a fiber optic connection instead of an internet line through traditional network. Is this true? And if so, can someone tell me where they get their service from and how they can get the same thing for free?
PureVPN doesn't keep any logs of their users' traffic and traffic speed improvements are purely anecdotal. What's more, it's hard to say whether what you're hearing about is actually any faster than the speeds you'd get by connecting directly to a fiber optic connection in Shanghai.e. To prove it, you'll have to compare the speeds you get with your own connection and those you get when you connect to PureVPN's servers. You could also look up the performance of various VPNs in Shanghai to see who's faster.
What else do they do? Some VPN providers claim to protect you against data loss and theft, but what are they really doing? PureVPN's service agreement explains what happens in case a customer loses or misuses his login details. So you can use any web browser to check it out. You can also search the company's forums to see if other users have experienced any problems.
I wouldn't worry about that aspect of VPN services, though. It's the most basic level of protection, after all. Data loss and theft is more likely to occur if the VPN user's computer has malware that the company isn't capable of removing. I'd be more worried about things like getting a malware infected operating system installed on my computer. I also wonder how effective PureVPN's security solution is. They mention nothing about blocking botnets, DNS leaks, or keyloggers, for example.
Why should I buy one? I've been using PureVPN for years, and I don't know why I bought a second one. I haven't had any problems with it, but I don't need another VPN service right now. I don't need to pay more money for the convenience of having a VPN on my phone, tablet, laptop, and home computer.
Why is PureVPN rated 4 stars? The company's forum posts are great. The company regularly posts new fixes, features, or other useful tidbits for its customers.
Can PureVPN be trusted?
PureVPN has risen in the ranks to become one of the most reputable VPN providers in the market and the answer to this question will determine if you should use them for your browsing.
You can read the rest of my PureVPN review here.
The Basics. I like the simple approach they take to setting up a VPN on their site - you just need to enter your username, password and email address. From there you get the instructions for Windows, Mac and iOS. The setup is done very quickly as you only need to create your account, log in and you're ready to go.
After creating an account and log in, you will then be greeted with the interface shown below. I like the way they set up the page with icons for accessing the VPN server locations.
The PureVPN interface is clean and to the point. It is also important to mention that PureVPN do not advertise their server locations publicly so you won't be able to access these easily. The servers are located in the EU, US and Canada - meaning you'll have to use a proxy or vpn service to access their servers.
One of the reasons why I like using the PureVPN platform is the fact that they don't force a manual install and run. I prefer to just choose the Windows option which creates a shortcut on the desktop.
Setting up the VPN connection is very simple as all you need to do is right click the PureVPN icon, then 'Start PureVPN'. You will then be asked if you want to allow PureVPN to control your internet connection (there is no way to disable this). I find the fact this is automatically opt-in a little annoying but it does make sense from a security perspective as this means your computer will be encrypted and no one can steal your internet traffic if your computer was stolen. It also means you do not need to add the app to your firewall for it to work. After this is done you are connected to PureVPN and you're good to browse.
The interface when you have been connected to PureVPN. The Settings page has plenty of features allowing you to tweak a variety of things. You can adjust the connection time which is the timeout on how long your connection to PureVPN will be retained.
