Is scraping prices legal?
The company may sell a product or service, but it does not manufacture or create the information contained on the website. Most of the time, companies offer services (like providing content, products or software) or information for sale. The company may sell a product or service, but it does not manufacture or create the information contained on the website.
If you are interested in selling your own company or just have an idea you're considering pursuing, we have found that the quickest and least expensive way to begin your marketing is on eBay. EBay isn't perfect, but it does make a great place to get started. Plus, if you're on eBay already, you can start an auction for an extra reserve price as long as you don't get negative feedback, in which case the reserve price may be lifted for the remainder of the auction.

For what it's worth, I think the whole idea of scraping is fine and we use scraping as well although we pay for it. However, we do check to see if the sites we grab from are OK with us doing this, and always pay the appropriate amount to compensate them for this.
In the case of Yahoo Finance, we actually got paid twice: first as a writer and then later as a publisher. These checks both took us a little bit of time to go through, but we did find some helpful hints for people looking to scrape data in their home computer's language, a language I wrote about last month.
I think people should be able to scrape whatever they want to do, and people who choose to be against what others are doing aren't. It's all about sharing knowledge and sharing resources, and I think that if the data is shared we can all benefit from it.
That being said, when I was growing up, my friends spent many hours and days sitting around scraping data from magazines and web sites. It was a really fun activity back then, but now it's a bit creepy.
I think scraping is ok for some things (ie if you're a journalist, you scrape stories), but other things need to be purchased.
What is price scraping?
Price scraping or the practice of buying and selling products in bulk at the same time to benefit from an abnormally low price. It is the fastest way to purchase lots of products that you can then resell at a huge profit! A lot of times, these products are not for sale online, or are available to purchase only by visiting brick and mortar stores. You buy them on eBay, Amazon, Craigslist and more! This is the easiest way to make money and make cash right away. This is the perfect time to earn money and be your own boss.
You can choose the products you want to purchase or you can choose the products you like the most. You can make money by being your own boss. You have a bigger range to choose from than ever before. There's no long term commitment and no need to pay rent. There is no need to quit your job or find anyone to work with. You don't have to get a job. There is no long sales cycle, so you can use this method to make money even during the holiday season when people are shopping. If you're thinking about trying this method, here are some things you should know about it: You do not need a huge budget. No special skills are needed. You do not need to quit your job or have to find a partner to work with. You are not required to spend hours and hours trying to figure out the lowest price. In fact, with this strategy, you do not even need to be online. The key to success is knowing how to navigate the market, what inventory is available and when. Also, you need to be knowledgeable about when inventory sells out and be able to sell your purchased inventory as soon as possible so you can purchase more. Before starting the process of buying and selling, you have to decide if you want to take part in this new venture. If you are someone who is looking to make money, this could be an opportunity for you. If you are someone who is just looking to test this concept out, this might not be the route for you.
Which software is best for data scraping?
I am creating a scraping tool for my company website. I was wondering what software best to use for this? What libraries etc. Would help me out.
You should probably look into a Python library called BeautifulSoup. However, if you want something quick and dirty and you just want to learn more about how the web works, I'd say go with urllib and urllib2. They're really simple to use and there are probably a bunch of sites that will explain them really well to you.
Is it legal to scrape prices from websites?
I recently learned that one of the tools I use (I'm not using this particular tool but other similar tools) is scraping prices from websites without permission. Is this legal? My understanding of the law is that I'm only allowed to scrap a page if it's within an app I'm legally allowed to use. It's been my experience that prices aren't usually made available on public web pages so it would be legal to scrape those. My question is, is this legal or illegal?
Note: There are ways to programmatically get prices from private webpages. The only difference is you're doing it in the open and you might be caught.
First of all, I see nothing wrong with scraping prices from websites. For example, Google has a special API to help scrape website prices but they require you to send them an email asking them for permission. This seems much more reasonable than me requiring you to give me access to your computer in order for me to scrape your prices.
That being said, from a copyright standpoint, there are certain aspects of scraping that could be considered infringement. For example, if you scrape a website and re-present it on your own website (or any website), that may be considered plagiarism.
You could, however, create your own site that scrapes prices from multiple websites. As long as you do not repost those prices anywhere, it should be fine.
