How to run DNS lookup in CMD?

How do I find out what DNS server I am using Windows?

I am using windows XP pro, my ISP is Comcast.

My internet has been down for the last 12 hours. On my network I have both a DSL connection and a Cable Modem as a modem/router. If I take off the cable modem, internet works fine, but I don't have a direct connection with Comcast.

My question is, how can I find out what DNS server I am using on Windows? I tried using ipconfig /all, and it did not give me any IP addresses. Also, I think I need some type of DNS software, but am not sure which one to use. I'm new to networking. Thanks!

Here are a couple options for configuring the system so it works right, assuming you're running WinXP or Win2k. Firstly, a basic solution. Use 'Default Network Connections' in Control Panel / Network Connections to add your "Comcast" connection and let it configure the DNS server automatically. You can delete it later.

Next, a more complete solution. Download and install (MSDN) QDirNet from Q-Drive. Follow the installation instructions and then reboot. When you log into the computer, logoff and try to load any pages and they will load and work for about a half hour.
