The VPN is a useful tool for any device that you use. A VPN is handy if you're going on holiday, or if you need to switch your internet connection when at home so that you can unblock content from certain websites. It's also useful if you're working from home. And what better place to test out a new VPN than in the UK, where connections can be dodgy, and the internet itself is monitored?

When you start setting up a new VPN, you'll want to download the client software and set it up. However, you can actually do a lot of the configuring through a web browser. I've tried a few free and paid services, and Norton's seems to work best for me. The client is very light, and there's no added bloatware like you get with some VPNs. You can even see what data the service sends over the network, and that should give you a good idea of how far you can trust it.

I don't know if you'll get any security certificates from the UK Government (in the UK, if you're not being charged for a subscription, you get the National Cyber Security Centre's own Certificate of Authority as proof you are talking to the government), but you can at least check the identity of the provider using the Norton Checkpoint website. If you need more information, there's a list of providers, and their respective URLs.

You might find you're able to connect to one or more services with ease, and one or more others aren't suitable. For example, if you're in Brazil, a popular country where online censorship is very strict, you'll struggle. If you're in Europe, I recommend you try NordVPN. However, if you want to be able to access some websites that aren't available in your area, it might be worth trying to bypass the restrictions for now.

The Norton client automatically saves your connection and reconnects whenever you restart. You can always access it later, and it's possible to set up multiple profiles, and only have to log in once.

Using the VPN. If you want to use a VPN on a PC, I recommend putting it behind a firewall. When you run the service on a PC, your PC is vulnerable to various attacks.

How do I activate Norton 360 VPN?

If you have downloaded and installed the Norton 360 app on your device, then you are good to go. The Norton 360 app will now ask you to enter the network credentials or PIN code to connect to the VPN network. If you do not have a network credentials or PIN code, then you can skip this step. Step 3: Follow the instructions displayed on your screen. You will now be taken to a setup wizard. Choose the location where you want to connect to the VPN network. If you do not have a location available, then you can skip this step.

Select the VPN service that you want to use on the Norton 360 app. Step 4: Choose the number of devices to be connected simultaneously. You will now be asked to enter the maximum number of devices that you want to connect to the VPN network simultaneously. If you have no device connected, then you will be asked to add one.

Step 5: Select a username and password. You will be prompted to enter a username and password for the VPN network.

Should Norton VPN be on all the time?

I'd like to ask if it's good to have Norton VPN on all the time (on Windows). I'm looking for the best solution to secure my connection, and to be safe from the malware. I don't want to connect to a public WiFi hotspot, because it's not as secure.

I was thinking about having it on all the time and disable it after 5 minutes. I don't want to pay monthly, because it will be on for 2-3 months, so I don't want to have it on my device for that long.

Norton has a free version that's pretty good. But since you are concerned about security, I would go with a paid subscription. They have a lot of security features.

It is definitely worth paying for and having it on all the time. It is the most secure option currently available in the market.

Re: Norton VPN is on all the time? That's a great idea and can be an ideal solution. I would not know how to set that up. Can you please explain that to me?

You can simply uninstall the Norton VPN and re-install it when you find a secure public WiFi.e. If you are on a computer/laptop, you don't even have to restart the computer, just logoff and then start it up again.
