Why has Family Link stopped working?
Since the last update on Thursday, May 18th, Family Link has not been working.
It appears to be a system-wide problem affecting all users.
We are working on the issue and have temporarily disabled new registrations. We will be checking to see if we can get the site working again soon.
If you are unable to access Family Link, please contact support@familylink.com.
What is Family Link? Family Link is a free service from the U. Census Bureau that allows you to create an online account that can be accessed by other people who need to fill out a census form, such as your spouse, children, parents or grandparents.
How do I register? Use the registration form on the website and select the form type that applies to you. How do I sign up for an account? Go to If you already have an account, enter your username and password. If you do not have an account, click the Sign Up Now button and follow the instructions.
Is there any cost to use Family Link? No. You do not need to pay anything to create or use an account.
Why should I use Family Link? You might be asked to complete a census form if you are a member of a household that does not have Internet access or if you are living in a rural area. For example, you may need to complete a census form if you live with your parents, and they do not have Internet access.
I don't want to use a census form, why should I register? You may still be required to complete a census form if you are a member of a household that does not have Internet access or if you are living in a rural area. If you do not want to complete a census form, you can register for Family Link.
What if I don't have a computer or the Internet? The Census Bureau will send you a paper census form that you can print out and complete. The Census Bureau will mail you a copy of the completed form, and you can keep it as a record of your census participation. You can also download and complete a paper form at www.gov/forms.
Why Google parental control is not working?
I would like to find out if I am the only one here who is not able to limit Google's search results for my child's age group (6-12). This happens on Google home screen in "Other settings". The only things I have in this section are "Limit adult results" and "Limit unsafe sites" . There is no option for the parents control.
Here is the image of the screen - the only options is for Limit unsafe sites and for Limit adult results. I have contacted Google many times (over 10 or 12 times) with different suggestions like, "you need to add an option for parents", "I am a parent and you need to make the Parent's control as an option to limit the search results for my kid". There was never any response from them about adding this option to "Other settings".
This seems like a very basic option that has to be added but instead Google is focusing on adding ads for Google Play - how long can they ignore these requests? How is Google Play adding ads while not giving parents what we all expect? The only option available for parents is to limit the web and YouTube but not the search results. Yes I got this option - even if the option to limit the parental control is missing. What would be the easiest way to make sure the search results are limited only for my child's age group? If it doesn't work please let me know. If anyone else knows how to do this - please share your experience.
You will also have the option to limit other web results. So you want that.
I think that when you have done that you still won't get the options to limit all the search results. In any case I use different browsers and have found that in all the browsers that I have used in the last 5-6 years. I suggest you use another browser than the one your kid uses. That should solve the problem.
Thanks for your suggestion. I will try using another browser and go back to Google to check if I can get the "Other settings" options for the parents control.
There is no other browser that works as the Google browser does. It is like the only thing I use and it crashes all the time when I use an other browser.
How do I set up Family Link on my child's phone?
We are in the process of getting my daughter a new phone.
She currently has an iPhone 4s. I want to get her a new phone, but I want it to be a phone for her and her friends. I was thinking of getting her an Android phone, but I am not sure if this is the best idea.
I don't have a lot of experience with Android phones. My husband and I got my daughter a phone with Android 2.3 Gingerbread a few years ago. It is a good phone, but it is a little out of date now. I am looking for a phone that will be able to handle Facebook, Twitter, games, apps, etc.
My daughter has a 4s and my husband and I have 4s's. When we all got our phones I got a 4s, my husband got a 5s, and my daughter got a 5s. I have heard that the 5s is great. But it is so expensive. We also have a Galaxy S2, and it is a really nice phone. I am not sure if we should get her a new phone or not. I was leaning towards getting her a new phone. My husband wants to wait and save up money.
If you can wait until the next year for a new phone, you might want to go for a newer phone. The new Galaxy 6 line are really nice phones, and I'd be happy with any one of them. You don't need to worry about your daughter having to wait for an upgrade. As long as the phone is going to be used for social networking (and your daughter is) then it doesn't really matter what phone she gets.
My daughter will be getting a new phone soon. I am leaning towards getting her a new phone, but I am not sure. I want to get a phone for her and her friends.
Why is my child's phone not showing up on Family Link?
I called Family Link to see what my child's contact information was and I found that it wasn't showing up.
I also found that our info was being deleted, because if you go to "My Family Portal" the only address you can register for is under my kids profile information. My kids phone number is still there and in the family portal their address and their picture are there, but there isn't a phone number on it. Does anyone know why?
