How do I block websites on my Android without an app?

On my LG-LS930, a lot of websites will always just load the HTML of the page and block out all the text, not even the images.

Sometimes I can read text fine though. And in some cases I can see an actual "website" when visiting a site that doesn't normally look like one to me (like Twitter), but the text is completely cut off. How can I fix this? Or should I just download a new phone because there are better web experiences on Android right now? I never understood how there were so many apps for the iPhone but not many for Android, like why there wasn't Opera Mini or a Vodafone Mobile Browser, especially with everything else we had gotten in terms of Android apps.

If you can still get your hands on android phone and root it, you could try installing "XDensity", it might allow you to switch from the default system browser back to Google Chrome's stock browser, I don't remember which density it would offer, and hopefully it would stop any auto blocking. You could also try enabling third party browser (by holding menu), you could try out either Opera Mini 2.x Beta or Vodafone Mobile Browser as they are available in the market as apps. The stock browser can be had for free on the Amazon store for your old Nexus One if you're feeling so generous, but it's no substitute for the experience you have currently with your phone on an unsupported operating system while not knowing the issue (in your case) at all.

But you can't use the stock browser, what are the alternatives you are looking at other than OperaMini for mobile browser or VMB Browser? Vodafone is working on a Vodafone Mobile Browser for Android which doesn't need root/superuser, I heard it supposed to be released a few days ago and has a nice UI compared to the stock browsers. But you still would have to use OperaMini or VMB Browser for browsers like Chrome and Safari (which would not load if not using a root, right?) The thing is, I like my stock browser, I like my speed dial feature, I like the way it handles video streaming.

Can you block individual websites on Chrome?

Or do you need to be a bit more advanced for that?

You can, for example, use the following steps (from the Google Help page) to block Facebook.com in Chrome: Open your browser's Extensions page by clicking Chrome's wrench icon. In the Extensions page, click "Add". Enter Facebook in the "Show text box: " field. Select "Block Website" in the "Action" dropdown menu. Select "Always" in the "When this extension is active" dropdown menu. Click "Add extension". If you wish to block Facebook.com at the application level, you should also visit the extensions page and remove the Facebook app from it.

How do I block certain websites on Chrome Android?

You can block sites by adding an exclusion to your hosts file, similar to the way you can block websites on a laptop or desktop.

You might consider using this method if you prefer the speed of browsing web pages through a browser app (which can't handle blocked websites) or if you're on a rooted device, which doesn't allow for the usual methods of filtering in Android.

A host file is a file that lists website addresses and their corresponding hostnames in a readable format. Host names are usually stored in a group called "C:WindowsSystem32Driversetchosts" in Windows, but other OSes have different places to store this file.

Host files do not work with mobile operating systems, so if you want to block websites on Chrome for Android, you'll have to find a different way. Steps. Method1. Create a block in hosts. 1

Open a Google Drive or a text editor like Notepad. 2

On the menu, go to Options Devices. 3

Select Apps (or Web at the top of the window, if you choose). 4

Drag the block option from the drop-down menu. 5

Click Save. Method2. Use an alternate browser. 1

Open Chrome for Android (not Chrome Play Store). 2

Scroll down on the right side of the home screen to the bottom. 3

Click More Apps (if you haven't already done so). 4

Click Manage Unknown Sources, then click Block Unwanted Apps. A black screen will show you the new list of apps you've enabled to block.
