Why does my iPhone show multiple IP addresses?

Why does my iPhone show multiple IP addresses?

I have an iPhone 3G that has several IP addresses associated with it.

It will show 3, then it will show 5 and then 9, and then it shows back to 3. I have the ipconfig in the console of my Mac, and I'm not sure why my phone shows multiple addresses. How can I keep my phone from showing all of these?

I just figured out that the problem was my router is a Linksys so when I connect to the internet through it, it has a static IP address, but when I connect to the internet through the Ethernet port of the Mac, it has a dynamic IP address. The solution was to shut off the Linksys router's wireless feature and use my Mac's Ethernet port instead.

Why does my IP address have four addresses?

What can I do if my IP address has four addresses? I'm not sure which one is which. Hello. My IP address has 4 addresses. I'm using a Netgear/Buffalo wireless router with built-in IP management system. When I try to see the current IP address of my computer it says "This IP address is shared" and I'm not sure which one is which.

I'm using a Windows 7 laptop with an Ethernet cable connected to the router and an Ethernet cable connected directly to my modem/modem box and my modem box has two Ethernet ports so I was thinking that the modem box would be able to provide my laptop with a wired connection to the internet. I've tried turning off the wireless router and modem and resetting it several times but it didn't work. Re: Why does my IP address have four addresses? There are three parts to your IP address: Your IP address subnet mask. The default gateway. The next hop. If you're looking at your IP address in a web browser, you'll see a portion of your IP address (and the subnet mask) plus a default gateway and the final address. If you're using a different device, like an embedded router, the browser may only see the final portion of the IP address. The next hop is usually only a physical address (192.168.1 for example).

You can change the default gateway using your router's administrative control panel or from the command line. If you use your router to make a NAT-ed (network address translation) connection between your internal LAN and the Internet, your default gateway will be the IP address of the router.

Why does my device have multiple IP addresses?

My device only has one ip address.

However, my router says I have four: In Windows Explorer, do I see only one IP address? When using the Windows IP Configuration tool, how would I see that there are multiple addresses on the device in use? Windows IP Configuration Tool lists the information you need for a given device. If you're interested in learning about DNS resolvers and how they resolve DNS requests, then this tool is exactly what you're looking for. You can also use this tool to update the configuration settings of your device; for example, to disable or delete DNS settings (which might be the reason for your issue) just enter a valid IP in the field and set "disable dns resolution" to true. Also look for details on IPv6 (should be the 4th entry).

To check more directly if there are actually multiple addresses on your system, you can use ifconfig.
