Is anonymous feedback really anonymous?

How do you conduct an anonymous survey?

You do so by getting the participant to click a link on your website.

You then record the answers that the participant gives to the questions you ask.

To conduct anonymous survey, you should use a link that sends people to a page on your website that asks them to complete the survey. You can record the responses to the questions they answer in the same way as you would for any other type of survey.

Steps. Method1. Doing the Survey Yourself. 1

Make sure the survey has already been approved by your university or college's Institutional Review Board (IRB) and by your school's Privacy Commissioner. Make sure you have permission to conduct an IRB-approved survey on your school's website, including to link to the survey from your website. If the survey is only available through your school's website, you will need to get permission from the university or college before you conduct the survey. The university or college's privacy officer or IRB may approve the survey to be posted on the school's website.

2

Sign up for a free account on Google Forms. 4

Give the form a title and description. 5

Enter the URL for the page on your website that links to the survey. This URL is the address that people enter when they are sent to the survey, either through a direct link on your site or through a link on another site. If you are a student at a university or college, you can create an account at Google using your school email address. If you are a member of staff at a university or college, you can create an account on the Google Apps platform.

6

Select the option to display the survey to people who visit your site. If you select this option, your students will be able to fill out the survey while they are on your school's website.

Is anonymous feedback really anonymous?

The Internet is abuzz with discussions about a new system for rating comments at Facebook.

Called "trending," this new tool allows users to rank their friends' comments by age, popularity, and sentiment. (It's like if the best comments on IMDB were displayed first.) The issue of anonymity has been a common topic of discussion, but what exactly is the problem? How could the "identity" of a commenter be determined from his or her comments? Let's find out.

There are no real solutions to problems. That is the nature of problems. There are only a few solutions to the problems, and all the other problems. The solutions are very easy to see, however. All it takes is to look at the problem, and not let your brain fogged. M.J. Carey

Anonymity in general is just a bunch of bullshit. And "trending" is just a way to help people become more popular (or less). It makes no difference to the fact that they can still find out who you are from a name and address. It's the same if you're trying to do something else for a hobby, like making videos or photography. Sure you can keep a fake name, but really, who cares. Just make a name that sounds right, you don't need to be clever. The only person you can really trust about anything, is yourself.

Re: Anonymous feedback really anonymous? Anonymity as a concept is pretty meaningless. If someone knows how to find a name on facebook it's probably trivial to find the poster.

The only anonymity that matters is online. In reality anyone can find out where you live. They can find out your phone number and start calling. This is a real problem.

If facebook can protect the user then they need to provide a means to verify that the information in the profile is correct. For example I had a comment made by a person I had never met. He called me "an asshole". Since that time I have had an additional comment from him that he knew me. Obviously he lied. We also found out he was from South Korea. I can't prove he was from South Korea because that would imply that I'd have to tell Facebook where he was from (and since I want to protect my anonymity I have no interest in that).

What is the problem you ask?
