Why is Saw Gerrera so important?

Is Saw Gerrera a reference to Che Guevara?

Saw Gerrera from Star Wars.

I can see the similarities between these two characters in this way: Saw Gerrera is a very intelligent, idealistic and noble man. Similar to Che Guevara. The only problem is that I don't find Guevara very intellectual or noble. Guevara did what was right and did it for a noble cause and died for it. And that's about it. His ideals are also pretty hard to identify with (although I guess you could say he fought for a better way). The differences are much greater than the similarities though. So I'd definitely say he's not inspired by Saw Gerrera (if you know what I mean) and that he also might be inspired by other leaders, who actually have similar characteristics of being intelligent and a great revolutionary. For example the French resistance leader General De Gaulle.

He does look somewhat like Che Guevara. A lot of people think he looks like a Che Guevara lookalike when in fact he looks more like Paul Newman who looks more like a Che Guevara lookalike. He just doesn't look as much like Che Guevara as Che Guevara would.

I'd say Saw was based on an older version of Che Guevara (the '50s or '60s one). Like Che, Saw is based on a younger person's ideal of someone who is dedicated, hard-working, unyielding, etc, but lacks the social savvy Che had. In short, Saw has "Che's ideals" without "Che's charisma". That's why it's so difficult for me to believe the guy was actually taken from Guevara. He simply doesn't have the same traits. If Saw were meant to be Guevara, that would be impossible because his ideas were different.

They took their cues from him, but I think not as the basis of their design, rather as something they made themselves based off someone like. I say this because if it wasn't from their own conception then they would have been very unlikely to go along with it.

Why is Saw Gerrera so important?

Because he is not a leader of a party but a true revolutionary.

He does not fight for the people, for the good of humanity. He fights for no one but himself. He sees himself as a hero because he lives alone, in the mountains, with his fighters. This is why they do not call him Gerrera, but Gerro, for Gerro is a devil.

When you see a movie like The Bourne Identity, or The Bourne Supremacy, the character's tactics are very clear. These tactics include wearing a mask, learning martial arts, fighting skills. There is no other side in the story other than yourself. It is always your fight, it is always the mission and what happens to the hero. And then we are left with the question: Why is Gerro doing this? In my opinion, this is why Gerro has achieved a certain cult status among fans of action movies. People love to hear that you, the hero, will make it, no matter how difficult. In Gerro's case, there is a more relevant question: What drives the hero, a character who does not make it, to keep on going?

Saw Gerrera in A Good Day to Die Hard. Gerra in A Good Day to Die Hard. The hero of the film, John McClane, is forced to wear a mask by the government, in order to protect the citizens of the United States from the terrorists he fights. And even after the terrorist attacks have been stopped, John still has to wear a mask to avoid any suspicion. But in the middle of the film, when his wife asks him Why do you have to wear a mask? he gives a very interesting answer. He says I'm an American. I have to do what the American people want me to do. (1) What's interesting about this statement is that the hero is an American, and he tells the audience that in order to protect his country, he has to wear a mask. This is why, when the movie ends, John McClane is taken off the island and put in a plane. He is no longer an American hero.

This is exactly the same thing that Gerra faces throughout the entire series.

What was Saw Gerrera's goal?

Why was it not possible to defeat the Empire?

How will it all end? And what's up with that. Oh, never mind.

"Saw Gerrera was a great man. I know because I knew him well," said the Death Trooper.

The Imperial officer raised his head in surprise." "Yeah." "What was he like?". "He was a good man," said the Death Trooper. "His goal was to free all of those who lived under the tyranny of the Empire. And he did just that, with his own personal army. But the Empire didn't stop there. They captured him and imprisoned him on Felucia. His goal was to use the people of Felucia to free all of the other worlds of the Empire. Unfortunately, the Emperor had him tortured and killed on Felucia. But his goal was never forgotten."

"I'm sorry for your loss," said the Imperial officer. "Thank you. Now, if you don't mind, I have some work to do."

"Of course," said the Imperial officer. "I'll leave you to it. Have you any more questions?"

"No. That was it."

"Good. I'm glad we met. I hope we can meet again."

"I'm sure we will." The Imperial officer stood up. "I will let you get back to your work. Thank you for your time."

"I'll be sure to come by to see you when I'm next in this sector," said the Death Trooper. "I look forward to it," said the Imperial officer. The Death Trooper stepped past the officer and headed back into the corridor. "Well, that was a bit weird," said a voice. "What was what weird? "You know. The Imperial officer."

"What about him?". "What was he doing here?". "What does it matter?". "It doesn't. It was an interesting experience, that's all."

"I don't want to talk about it." "Fine. I'll leave you to it."

The Death Trooper turned to the direction of the voice and continued down the corridor.

Was Saw Gerrera trained by Anakin?

I'm curious if anyone knows if Anakin was trained by Saw Gerrera or if he was just around when Saw trained Anakin.

I can only find what I know is false from one of the Wookieepedia books.

Well, in general it's possible that he wasn't, but to answer your question about Anakin being trained by Saw I'd like to reference another source, and that's Lucas himself in The Ultimate Guide to Warfare from the Legends of Luke Skywalker (which is available here on Wookieepedia, if you can't find it on Amazon). Lucas says in it: "On Tatooine he learned from the Jedi Master, Obi-Wan Kenobi, about lightsaber fighting and the ways of the Jedi.e. In time, Anakin would surpass his master in skill. He would learn from his own students at his academy. There was a man named Saw Gerrera who was his principal instructor."

Well, I've found a couple quotes from the film's official novelization, where Lucas says that while he doesn't recall much about how he taught Anakin, he remembers he taught him a lot of things. The second quote he gives is specifically about lightsaber fighting. He says: "I learned how to use the force, but I'd never used a lightsaber. My teacher, Obi-Wan Kenobi, was a master of the weapon.

As for Anakin's training after Obi-Wan Kenobi, Lucas doesn't say anything about it, so I doubt we'll ever get answer to your question. Anakin went to the academy in Utapau with Padme's brother Jacen. This was after Jacen had defeated Jango Fett.

Anakin was trained by Saw Gerrera. This was after the battle of Ryloth.

Anakin went to the academy with his aunt, Shmi Skywalker. This was after her husband's death and the Battle of Ryloth.

In order, I'd say Anakin went to the academy after Jacen and Fett. This was after the death of Jacen and Fett, as we can see from the novelization cited by the last poster. It seems clear that Jacen and Fett weren't the ones who taught Anakin.
