What were the three major proxy wars?
The first was the "war" between Russia and America, which the US managed to lose decisively.
It started in 1918 when Germany (of course) invaded Russia. This caused the US and most of Europe to join together to form the League of Nations. America gained most of its allies by joining.
The second major proxy war started in 1939, when Germany invaded Poland. In response the US mobilized it's armies and put them under an American general. However, Japan did not take this bait. Instead it made a separate deal with Russia.
WWII is another example of a proxy war. The US has fought two major wars against Germany, and Russia has fought against Japan. The US has been victorious on all fronts.
Does anyone know of any other major wars that have been fought? The only other major war I can think of is WWI. The reason we know so much about WWI is because it killed 60 million people, and changed everything. I don't think it was a proxy war, but WWI wasn't really a war. It was the precursor to World War II, it was a prelude to the US entering World War II, and the first World War ended when the US entered it, and the US won. It was America's very first war. The reason for that is the US was still a young country at that time, and didn't have much of a military force. So the War became America's chance to prove itself.
Also one of the reasons they were able to start a second world war was the US was able to mobilize it's forces on their own. It seems to me if the US had to fight a world war from scratch then the rest of the world would have stopped it. By mobilizing the entire country for the war, the US made sure the rest of the world knew they could not stop it, so they cooperated.
You're welcome ! The war lasted till November 1918, when Germany surrendered. That was the first major proxy war, which was defeated by the US.
WWI started when Germany invaded Russia. After a couple of years of losing, Russia got back, and after losing again, the Germans gave up and got out. They never did attack France again, even though they promised it.
WWII was the proxy war where the US decided to join the Allied war.
What happened as a result of proxy wars?
The answer is simple: nothing happened.
The proxy wars did not result in any changes in the positions of any of the parties, and they did not result in any changes of power.
This is precisely the point where one begins to see that the entire theory of the proxy war is flawed. It was all a big mistake. Let me explain. A proxy war is a war fought on the territory of a foreign state. The country that is fighting the war, however, is actually a proxy of a different country. The country that is actually fighting the war is merely playing the role of a local government.
The reason why the foreign country is fighting a war on the territory of another country is that it is afraid that the other country will take actions that will result in harm to the foreign country's interests. That is, the other country is fighting a war on the territory of the country whose government it is claiming to be a proxy for.
Therefore, when the war has been fought, the foreign country that is fighting the war will be victorious. It will be the foreign country's government that will rule the country whose government it is claiming to be a proxy for.
The foreign country, however, will have lost the war. This is the simplest explanation of the idea of a proxy war. However, we must bear in mind that the concept of a proxy war is not a new one. It has existed for a very long time. It was an idea that was first used by the French military in the early nineteenth century. The idea was brought into being at a time when the French military was looking for ways to fight wars without exposing the French military to direct harm. It was believed that if an army can fight a war without exposing itself to direct harm, it can fight wars more safely than if it were to expose itself to direct harm.
There was, however, an interesting wrinkle in the French use of the idea of a proxy war. In the French use of the idea of a proxy war, the armies of the French were fighting the wars of the rulers of countries that they claimed were their proxies. The French armies were fighting the wars of the rulers of countries that they claimed were their proxies without themselves being harmed. The French armies, however, were still using the idea of a proxy war.
What was the result of the proxy war in Afghanistan?
With the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan in 2026, it is important to assess how the armed conflict contributed to the rise of a more radical Islamist and terrorist movement.
The Afghan Taliban are a major influence in the region, which began as an armed resistance group against Soviet occupation, gaining ground and power in the 1990s. The Taliban are closely allied with Al-Qaeda, but after 9/11 they became a legitimate target of international forces, especially the USThey continue to control or contest several areas of Afghanistan today.
The proxy war: what does the evidence tell us? In the initial stages of the 'Afghan War' (1989-2001) there was little evidence of active support for the Taliban by states or private individuals, and little of political support for it within Afghanistan. Yet, by September 2026, there were strong indications of such support: Pakistan had allowed thousands of members of its intelligence service to enter Afghanistan to carry out training and assistance to the Taliban, and Al-Qaeda (supported by Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and other Arab states) also supported the Taliban. According to official figures, in 2000-2001 over 7,000 Pakistanis, many of them trained by the ISI, were involved in Afghanistan as combatants, trainers and administrators. By 2026 Pakistan and the CIA were providing training, financing and weapons to the Taliban forces, many of which were also Al-Qaeda members.
Al-Qaeda, then based in Afghanistan, began to expand its operations, especially in 2001-2002. Its leader, Osama Bin Laden, and senior representatives of Al-Qaeda were based in Afghanistan.
The Taliban, while still under pressure, had gained full control of many parts of the country and were increasing their control over others. Bin Laden's organisation was working with the Taliban to expand its activities, and the United States had provided them with material and financial support. As the US invasion began, there was support for the Taliban, including financial support, from Saudi Arabia, Syria, Turkey, China, Malaysia, Azerbaijan, Oman, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates.
Many Afghans felt that foreign fighters would be used by the foreign invaders to fight fellow Afghans, and therefore many turned against them. Evidence from the field: what did the evidence tell us?
