Is Orfox and Tor same?

Is Orfox still available?

Because it can be so much fun I would like to have a go at it. In the description () it says the current developer won't be getting involved.

Is this still true? Majority of the code is written by orfox himself not a new programmer like a lot of the new guys perhaps but im just reading up on how to get started. Have no experience either lol. If anyone has any tips or a good starting out place please do share. I don't see why it would be a problem. The most current version of orfox is v3.1, released on 9/25/17. The developer posts his own messages every week.

I'd start by reading the site's documentation. It's pretty easy to find.

I can't promise anything, but I'll give it a try. But I won't promise a lot, as I don't enjoy doing networking (I'm not a very good developer, either) nor will I be able to promise fixing issues.

Orfox doesn't require a lot of networking at all. A user can easily create his own profile without ever visiting the forums.

There is even a tutorial in the documentation. Add a new user and you will be able to choose between both types of profiles. Starting with the wiki: It's really good. It's not hard to find stuff (there is even an index) but the wiki is really great since it is kept up to date, so you can easily find answers for all questions.

If you have questions, you can just post a new thread on the forum and you'll get answer pretty soon. You can create a new tab in your profile. It's not mandatory but it's really handy when you want to do some custom stuff for example.

You can save pages as you want. There is even a plugin to save pages as "timetracker items".

Why is there no Tor Browser for iOS?

According to the Tor Project website, there are lots of desktop and mobile browsers and devices that support Tor. But, very few iOS apps for the Tor network. IOS devices and apps remain uncommonly difficult to use with a VPN service. With Tor Browser, though, mobile apps follow Tor's flexible architecture in a way that Apple's restrictively controlled Apple App Store does not.

Apple adopted the VPN to monitor App Store users' personal activity and, depending on the VPN's settings, might forbid some apps from ever being downloaded again. Applications have trackers embedded in their phones from the launchers used by the development software to the phones' clocks. Apple's intrusive identity tracking sounds especially ironic because third-party app marketplaces like the Google Play Store don't track and censor user activity on the networks their apps broadly use in the same manner. Tor as-a-service uses servers outside of Apple's TLD to create browser-like anonymity, whereas jailbreaking is necessary to use Firefox and other unofficial Firefox-based (eg, K-9 Mail, My Classic Shell) third-party messenger apps.

Of course, Apple could encrypt Tor Browser and facilitate its use for iOS applications. The adoption of privacy defaults on iOS would likely prevent Apple from monitoring iOS apps. No iOS app currently meets or exceeds what we expect from good security when it comes to iOS with privacy. IOS is a strong competitor as a mobile platform. It has a high-quality, clean, and easy-to-use application store. It also has a rich app ecosystem to include development projectors.

When reports about Apple's new VPN surfaced, some bloggers, Redditors, and journalists were quick to dismiss the report as false or speculation. But, this spring, when an iOS mobile device privacy setting changed in a way that arguably could be said to indicate the existence of Apple's own VPN, Apple managed to interpose on Reddit chatroom speculation. Apple had concerns about speculative comments about why the change might happen that could interfere with the secrecy Apple typically envisions for protecting the company from the public. These recent events, from the jailbreak to the rumored VPN, illustrate that Apple's corporate culture better describes Apple's corporate ethos than its marketing.

Is Orbot available for iOS?

Is there a way to create an Orbot compatible cache filter and store it to use with the bundle but not set up the normal functionality - OrBot? The best way to use Orbot is to install Orbot on your mobile device and connect it to any open Wi-Fi network using an unencrypted modem or other hacky way. From there, you can surf safely. It was designed for this purpose, and its tests show that it's very effective.

I agree Orbot is a good product, so I don't see what this question has to do with XDPerhaps your post is meant to influence us judges. And what do you mean by "used with the bundle"? I suppose this one is relevant to my xda thread as well though. I was referring to jail-broken iOS devices. In any case, there's nothing to do with those, so the question is off topic and close-able.
