What is the command to check network connections?

How to use ipconfig to troubleshoot?

Can you please explain me how to use ipconfig for troubleshooting?

I have a WLAN connection in a laptop. When I connect it to my router (with WPA/WPA2 Personal) the Windows shows "The device cannot be found" and ifconfig doesn't show the connection. But if I connect the laptop directly to my LAN without the router (without WPA/WPA2 Personal) and then ifconfig shows the connection. So, ifconfig on a connected WLAN connection is not reliable? What is the right way to use ifconfig?

I'm assuming you are talking about ipconfig. If so, I would say that it is not reliable. I'm not 100% sure why, but when I ran ipconfig and I had a wlan card on, I would get a different ip address than I did when I didn't have the wlan card on. I don't know if this is your issue, but it might be worth a try.

What are the ipconfig commands?

When trying to use a wireless connection that is not yet connected, you can see what your IP address is by running the following command: In my case, the wireless card on the network computer that I was connecting from had an IP address of 192.

168.109.

However, after I tried to connect using the IP address of my router (192.1), the wireless connection failed. It would not connect and I got an error message stating:

IP Configuration disabled, please enable this service. I checked my IP address settings on my router and saw that the IP Configuration service was not enabled. I set it to Enabled and restarted the router. The wireless connection then worked fine.

It seems that the IP Configuration service is disabled by default. That's not good, right? The IP Configuration service is not something you want to disable. After all, it's the main thing that helps your router get to know about other computers on the network.

Luckily, the service is easy to enable and you don't even have to go into the router settings to do it. On Windows XP, you can enable it by going to Start > Control Panel and then selecting System and Maintenance > Administrative Tools > Services. If you are on Windows Vista or Windows 7, you can go to Start > All Programs > Accessories and select Command Prompt (if you don't have it installed already). Once you have the Command Prompt open, you can run the net start command to start the service: After doing this, you can use the ipconfig command to see what your IP address is now: The IP address is the one that is automatically assigned to you by your router and is the one that you will use to connect to other computers on the network. You can then use the ping command to test the IP address of the router and make sure that the router is actually working: Finally, you can also go back to your router settings and make sure that the IP Configuration service is set to Enabled.
