How do I remove my Screen Time password if I forgot it?
My Google Pixel 2 with factory screen protector broke a few days ago and I have been unable to install a new one because the Screen Time password blocks the installation.
The way Screen Time works is that it has a 24 hour clock, so if you haven't used your phone in a while and then use it for something you don't want Screen Time to record, then when you come back to the screen you get a time limit message asking you to reset your screen time (which is basically a "sorry, bad timing" message) and then you can get another 24 hours of screen time or just pay to remove the limitation. If you forget the password to access your screen time account it will become disabled forever and will not be able to be re-enabled by the password reset.
How do I get my Google Pixel 2 without factory screen protector into a state where I can install a new screen protector? Thanks to Moxie Marlinspike's excellent work on his own Pixel 2 project, we now have a working bootrom image for the Pixel 2 that contains an unlocked bootloader and root access. This should work for many people with a stock Pixel 2 that still has the factory screen protector on their device.
If you haven't already, please read our post about unlocking the bootloader in order to unlock your device from the factory lock screen. It seems like there are two issues with the build. The root exploit works fine, but the device does not recognize the correct screen size, thus not all the correct features are enabled. The other issue is a compatibility issue where it will reboot every time it is unlocked and/or when the screen turns off. When the screen turns off, it does not turn back on.
When I press the power button and it shows the battery symbol and then shows me the lock screen the computer hangs. If I go into settings it just shuts down.
Can you bypass Screen Time passcode?
If I am unable to access my Google Account due to a Screen Time passcode, is there any way to bypass the passcode and access my account?
The Google Account screen that you are seeing is not your own account. It is the Screen Time passcode screen that is being presented to you when your phone is locked.
This screen will not allow you to access the account without entering a passcode. You can either unlock your phone or enable automatic unlock. To unlock the phone. Press and hold the power button until the Google logo appears. Press the Volume Up key. To enable automatic unlock. Press the Volume Down key. NOTE. Screen Time is not yet supported on Android 7.0 Nougat or earlier. You will need to set up the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to work.
What happens after 10 failed Screen Time passcode attempts?
I set a passcode on my iPhone and iPad.
The first time I enter the passcode, it works. The next time I try to enter the passcode, it fails, even though the phone is unlocked and I'm just sitting there holding it in my hand. It takes 10 tries to get the passcode to be accepted.
What happens after 10 failed passcode attempts? 1 Answer.
You can change the number of failed passcode attempts before you are locked out by going to Settings > General > Passcode Lock. You can also change the passcode length from the same settings page by going to Settings > General > Touch ID & Passcode. If you need more help, I recommend searching this site and also posting on the Apple Support Communities. It's possible that your iPhone has the option to turn off passcode attempts after a set number of failed attempts. In the future, I would suggest changing the passcode length to something that you can remember better. If your iPhone is stolen, having a long and complicated passcode will make it easier for the thief to steal.
If you don't need to have the passcode length be changed, you can always reset your device by holding down the power and home buttons together. This will wipe all data off the device and restore it to factory settings. If you forgot your passcode, then you should just reset the device without erasing all data.
It's very important to backup your data before you reset the device, otherwise you will lose all of your data. You can use a Mac or PC to back up your device.
If you're not the one that uses the phone the most, then you could always setup a family plan for the family. If your son is the one that uses the device the most, then he could get his own iPhone with a simpler passcode.
This is why it's important to have a different passcode for each person that uses the phone. It's also a good idea to have the passcode be a sequence of numbers and not a string of letters.
