Is solo VPN available for PC?
I want to know if a VPN can be used to access solo content on PCs.
I do not have access to a computer, but a friend does. She wants to access this content using the VPN I have. She has no idea how to set up a VPN connection, nor where the files are on her computer. I am hoping that there is a way for me to point her in the right direction to access this content with a VPN.
Replies. If you have a Mac, it's easy to set up a VPN, as Apple has done all the work for you. All you need is the iOS app called Private Tunnel. From there, you can then select any VPN provider and point it to your local Wi-Fi router and then off you go. No installation necessary. If you have an iPhone or iPad, Apple has a web app called AirPort Utility that will handle your VPN needs. This is also available on your Mac. If you use Windows, you can use Private Tunnel on Windows, or you can use AirServer, which is available for free download here.
The other thing you can do is to set up a hotspot. This isn't as easy as with a Mac or an iOS device, but it is possible. Download Hotspot Shield for Windows from their website. You can then plug in an Ethernet cable and turn on the WiFi connection on your computer and connect to the hotspot and it will work.
What happens if you only have an Android tablet? It seems like it's pretty hard to use an Android tablet to access the Internet. In that case, you may want to get some WiFi adapter or dongle that connects to the Internet and has a USB port on it. Plug it into your computer and run it from there.
I'm a little surprised that VPN isn't more popular among PC users. A lot of the things you mention are already built into Windows. It's just a matter of installing the VPN client and configuring the settings. You're much more likely to need a VPN for an Android tablet than for a PC.
Can I use a VPN with BlueStacks?
BlueStacks is a popular Android emulator, used to develop Android apps and games on your PC.
It's free and can be downloaded here. BlueStacks needs network access to run properly. So it's not exactly suitable for the BlueStacks server-based version. You can make use of VPNs to get around this. By tunneling your traffic over a VPN connection, it will pretend to be coming from somewhere else, fooling BlueStacks into thinking you're on a mobile network instead of your normal broadband connection. So where would be the best VPNs to use?
I've tested the following VPN services in BlueStacks and found that they all work perfectly fine with BlueStacks. They're suitable for both regular Android users who don't have root access and for PC users who do have root access. If you're interested in finding out what VPN services you should use with BlueStacks, then I recommend running the BlueStacks emulator without any restrictions. That way, you can fully see what works and what doesn't.
I've ranked them from best to worst. The lower they are in the table, the better they are in my opinion. I've tested the free VPNs as well as paid ones. In short, they all work fine, although some are better suited to certain tasks than others. This isn't meant to be a definitive list of the best VPNs, because I haven't personally tested all of them. The number in brackets at the end of each company name gives an idea of how good the service was for me on BlueStacks.
Using a VPN in BlueStacks - All about Speed, Location, Money & other important stuff. Most people have heard of VPNs by now. They're essential nowadays, with most homes and businesses having one or more active internet connections and the ever-increasing online privacy concerns. VPNs give you access to your normal internet connection anywhere in the world, meaning that it is available whether you're physically at home or away from your usual area. Using a VPN means that your data (and sometimes voice) travels through a tunnel in order to get to its destination. This tunnel looks like it's coming from another country, giving you the idea that you're in another land. So you're getting around restrictions from your ISP that would normally prevent you from connecting to certain websites or services.
Is free VPN available for PC?
I want to know if it is possible to use a free VPN for my personal PC.
I'm in the UK, and our internet provider is BT Openzone. I use my iPhone/iPad at work, but my computer at home. I've read on other forums that Viscosity, etc. Are free, but I'm having trouble finding this information. I'd prefer not to pay for an extra service that I might or might not use, especially when the service is available for free.
This is an example of the type of stuff I'm talking about. I have a similar problem, and I have tried both Viscosity and Tunnelbear (both of which have free plans). Both appear to work fine with my wireless router, but I have a hard time figuring out how to configure them on my desktop. If someone can point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it.
Hello, I'm not really sure where you're located. You might need to find a VPN provider who has servers in the UK. I've never heard of a free VPN provider, so I'm guessing they exist. You may want to look into one.
Hi - thanks for your reply, it's a little late for this thread, but I'll try and answer anyway. I'm in the UK, and all my devices are at my house, which is currently being fixed. But thanks for the info.
If you are using a tablet, I guess your ISP needs to be set to connect through the router.
