What are the reincarnation animes called?

What is isekai anime series?

In the current Japanese internet vernacular, isekai () means a kind of a setting in which you're living and having fun inside one world with one group of people, while at the same time, the rest of the world keeps on living just the way it does in the past. Isolating to another world or being put in an empty fantasy universe are also commonly used definitions of . And when the word is used alone, it almost always refers to the anime genre of isekai, like the works of Kishimete! or Honto ni Atta nokuni Wa (? A good example is the Isolation tagline that is often given to the manga series Tokyo Ghoul which can be translated as: I only survived because I am a monster. But this seems to lead us to an awkward definition as there is quite a bit of semantic ambiguity surrounding the use of the word .

What are the reincarnation animes called?

So I was recently watching anime called "Odd Jobs" and in it, it was said that when a human dies, they will be reborn into another body. What are these types of anime called? Is there a name for them? The term is called "Kamikakushi", meaning something like "reincarnation", although most English translations of the term come closer to "rebirth". The two definitions are, however, not mutually exclusive; indeed, you can have a rebirth and still be reborn (the two terms share the same definition in Buddhism, though). In the context of anime, these are also known as "gaiden", or side stories/spin-offs, where the main story focuses on the main character and their friends/family as opposed to a self-contained plot that stands alone.

I don't think that there is a specific name for this type of anime because it has become so mainstream. I believe that it is just called "anime".

In my opinion, they're called "spin-offs" because there's nothing else to call them. However, I'm not very familiar with anime, so I can't really give a good reason.

I'm going to say the term for these types of anime is "gaiden" or "kamikakushi" like you said, but the name is just a generic term for any anime that takes place after the main story. Some people call them "spin-offs" too, but I think that term is usually used to refer to anime that has no relation to the main story of the original show, and that's not what we're talking about here.

It's a bit of a broad term. For example, an anime where the main character is a high schooler who goes to a high school for anime. It could be a sequel to the original show (such as Naruto) or it could be a side story. I don't think it's been defined because most people don't know what the term means.

"Kamikakushi" is definitely one of the more common names for them. I think that term was popularized by the likes of Re:Zero, but the term "kamikakushi" can also be used to describe some sort of supernatural phenomenon.
