What is the difference between Firefox Nightly and quantum?

After the update, Firefox has been extremely slow in doing anything at all on my machine. The CPU usage, memory usage, and browser load are all high.

I had no problem running the older builds on my machine. I still have my previous builds saved on disk but I haven't been able to find the older version of Firefox for Windows 64 bit.

As you can read in this bug report, this may be a result of the fact that the "Firefox Nightly Build" repository is also a part of the Mozilla "Release Builds" repository.
