Does Surfshark One work on iOS?
I just finished a test of Surfshark One, the app is awesome, very solid.
But I can't get it to work on my iPod Touch, I know there are a lot of others who have this problem too. It says in the comments on the app's page that iPhone doesn't support it yet, but I'm wondering if that is a mistake. Can someone please tell me?
Re: ? I tried loading on my iPhone and it worked fine for a minute then I got "Network access has been lost." and it won't work again.
Anyone know how to force the iPod Touch to work on any kind of Network Connection? If you're using the latest update, the answer is yes. We just released a new update for iOS devices (and Android) today that adds the new feature to iPad and iPhone as well as iPod touch. It can be downloaded from the App Store. Go to the Apps store on your iOS device, search for Surfshark One and the new update should show up.
You don't need to register with the new update, but if you'd like to do so, you can always register here: Good news, it's been working for us after today's update. We're still figuring out how it works for the iPod touch though, we're going to have to release another update soon for that.
Thanks for confirming that it works! Just updated my iPod touch and iPad so now I can start surfing again. I never use the forum, but I was able to register and it does seem to be working. Not sure why i'm doing that since i've been having problems for weeks. Good to know though.
Why doesn t Surfshark work on iPhone?
Well, according to the developers its because Apple wont let anyone do anything without a stupid licence.
I can see your point now, but this is a very interesting statement, no reason why not?
You are confusing me by mentioning that Surfshark has a shitty licence. It doesn't. They have a non-open source licence. But they allow people to do much more than they're restricted from.
What you're doing with that line of thinking is arguing on their behalf. As others have said, Surfshark is not open source. If someone were to write their own client that used the open source library, would you argue that they're violating the license?
Surfshark's license is what I'm getting at. I know that their licence is non-open source. If you wish to debate this point, fine. But saying that it allows much more than they are restricted from, that argument is not good enough, even if it's your opinion.
I don't think anyone disagrees with your first point. Its a reasonable thing to say.
On my iPhone, there is no way for me to install Surfshark. No one here could be bothered to get around that restriction, and the only way to use Surfshark on iPhone would be to jailbreak your device. This isn't good because, while this is a very popular device, the support for it is very poor. I think Apple would prefer it if people stayed within the App Store, which wouldn't encourage people to buy other apps in the App Store that would increase iTunes revenue.
My argument was in response to the OP. Your whole line of argument is that you are an open source supporter and Apple is being hypocritical.
No, I said it was the opposite: open source proponents use a "if you can build it, you own it" logic which completely disregards the way the law actually works, and is incompatible with the GPL which requires commercial users to maintain proprietary binaries of the software so that they can make further changes. Not really, I mean SurfShark's license just allows anyone to see the source code, and they can even change it. This means nothing for the GPL, which makes it not very different.
Well the Open Source Initiative claims otherwise, so there must be some truth to it.
Does Surfshark block ads on iPhone?
We tested our iPhone 11 Pro using the new App Store.
In our tests, we didn't notice any ads. That said, Surfshark can still collect IP address and other tracking data.
Hi Brian ,I am not sure of course it is blocking Ads.But as we said in the post it is tracking your traffic and the reason why I am posting this here is that people might think to use Surfshark VPN if you are planning to surf without the Ad blocker. I guess they have different features so I would like to point out that even with their free feature which is basically a VPN service, you can also surf without the Ad.so people might go for their free service even though they have an Ad blocker and there is no benefit from using their product
As far as I am aware no VPN client can be completely ad-free but they could be making more money by collecting as many users as possible with the help of Ad. I agree that Surfshark as their VPN services and Free Feature are pretty good when compared to paid VPNs.
Hey Brian I didn't read the review carefully but there are 3 things that I want to point out .1) Surfshark is not available for my country (Brazil). Could that be the reason for Ads being there ?2) When browsing with a Proxy VPN it seems that you have to connect the web browser to that VPN Connection and Surfshark works without connecting to any VPN at all, is that right ?3) If I use another VPN connection Surfshark must work the same way ,but it doesn't work with other free VPNs which I use (AVPN and PPTP etc)
Hey Nick, thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate that. No, it is not necessary to connect to any VPN to use Surfshark. It just uses IP address filtering, so when you use the proxy option, you don't need to connect to the VPN.
Hello Nick. Thanks for sharing about Surfshark as the best free vpn.
Does Surfshark work with Apple?
I just received my first apple computer today with an i7 Quad-core 2.
67GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB DDR3, AMD Radeon HD 5850 1GB graphics card, and a new 500GB HD. And it came without any pre-installed software (other than the recovery disk, driver disk, and apple restore). I am wondering if surfshark will work on this, since I was able to download/install surfshark on my older macbook pros (a 3.1GHz i5, 4GB DDR2, and GeForce 9600M 512MB graphics card). Since both machines have different hardware, I would assume that surfshark is not compatible with all Apple computers, correct? Thanks.
Hi Surfshark, I've been able to install Surfshark on an iMac 27". It is running Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) and has an Intel i5 3.2GHz processor, with 4GB RAM. I'm not sure if you are asking about the OS or the hardware. I tried surfshark and you can indeed access your modem without requiring any configuration. I got it from Amazon: www.amazon.com/Surfshark./dp/B00A9E5QEK.
I'm also wondering if you think there are any downsides to running your own modem, when the modem that is usually associated with a phone is in the box that contains your phone? I could definitely be wrong, but I thought your modem needed to be plugged into the phone jack in order for the phone to work. Hi Surfshark, thanks for the reply. I got my Macbook from my university's computer store, and i'm assuming the computer has come pre-installed with OS X Lion. Could the reason for my inability to download surfshark because of the operating system? Since the Macbook does not appear to be 32-bit? I can't find any information on their website about whether they are compatible. They only mention iPhone. But, on the page it says: "Surfshark is compatible with any smartphone." But i'm not exactly sure what they mean by smartphone. Should I expect to be able to download surfshark?
