What is the hiring process for prolific?
If a candidate has worked hard, learned more than they knew, and put that knowledge into practice, how does that translate to a successful application in a company? We don't even have words for it yet. It's not even a thing. To the casual observer, you simply write about something and it gets on a list. It's as simple as that. The person on the other side is busy, doing what she needs to do in order to move forward. And so, she doesn't have time to read your whole story.
When I read stories on here like the one from Ben T, or the one from Jina, I can see so clearly their success. If they are not hired (yet), they know why. They know what they were doing wrong. We all know when our skills translate into real work and real progress.
It was hard to find any stories of people who were actually hired that fit the profile of someone we call prolific. That is to say that they had to find ways to make themselves stand out, or prove that they had found a way to become known enough in the new company that their skills translated into actual work and real progress.
Ben T at CXOS, I've already written about here. The company has posted a couple of times, but hasn't commented, because they hired Ben, and they don't want to make him sound like he is getting an easy ride. They want him to learn, and he won't be doing much work if they hire him.
Jina, you told me her story one of the comments I left one of your blogs. She is doing great. She even got a raise. (Thanks, Jina! You can hear a little bit about her work here:
It appears this is her third interview for this new job. So, she is prolific.
The fact that she has kept applying, is a good sign for both her and the hiring manager. She must have gotten a sense that she could build a career at this company. If she hasn't stopped, I suspect the first interview went really well. Then she is told that she didn't get it. Then she doesn't give up.
What are the rounds of the hiring process?
There is no general rule on how many rounds there are in a hiring process.
Some companies go for two rounds, some go for four rounds, and some go for six rounds. However, all companies have their own standards of what constitutes a round of interviews.
How long do the rounds take? The time it takes to complete a round of interviews varies greatly from company to company. Can I quit a job after I've had one round of interviews? Absolutely! If you have a new job offer and you like your current company enough to stay with them, then it's time to quit your current job. If you haven't been hired by the end of the first round of interviews, there is a good chance that the company is not going to hire you. You will probably want to keep trying to get hired.
What if I don't get hired after the first round of interviews? It's perfectly acceptable to have one or two interviews with a company and not get hired. You should be honest with yourself and your future about what you want to do next.
You might decide that the company doesn't fit you or the role. It might just not be the right time for you. In that case, you need to decide what to do next.
If you really like the company, but they don't hire you, then you can always try to get an interview at the next company you are considering. Do you have any tips for getting a second interview? You should prepare for your second round of interviews. By preparing for your second round of interviews, you increase your chances of getting hired.
You should start preparing for your second round of interviews three to six weeks before the second round. This means that you should start thinking about your second round of interviews and looking for jobs before the end of the first round.
You should have a folder full of resumes that you can share with a recruiter. By having a folder of resumes, you give yourself a better chance of getting an interview. If a recruiter asks for your resume, then they will make an extra effort to find you.
You should think about where you'll go for your second round of interviews. You should try to visit a few different companies during the first round of interviews.
