Can Google detect fake reviews?

Do companies pay for fake Google reviews?

It's something many of us have wondered and wondered more.

But the answer is now very clearly yes.

It's so clear that the answer to the question is now even getting into Google Search. The company's own help page now contains a section on fake reviews - but instead of simply saying 'no they don't' as has been the case for years, Google has now gone one step further by saying: Not all reviews are created equal. If you're getting a high number of reviews, it's important to understand why. That means you might be paying for reviews, or at least getting ones from people who don't know you or your business.

There are two different types of fake reviews: One-star reviews that have been paid for, or made in a bot-like way. Reviews made by people who don't know you. Google gives a number of examples, like 'fake restaurants in Vancouver', but this can happen when someone just 'makes up' a fictitious review about themselves on a local website, then asks their friends and family to leave their names next to the post. We also had reports a few months ago of a fake review being created about a doctor's office in a major city, which showed up on Google and other search engines, so that's another example.

Paid reviews are harder to detect. The first type of fake review we mentioned above - the ones that have been paid for - are harder to detect. This is because it's usually easier to ask for reviews from people who already like you.

But if the source of the paid review is an independent third party, with no connection to your brand, it becomes less easy to spot. To a casual observer, it might look like a real review - but it won't be.

The second type is simpler to spot. The person writing the review doesn't know you, so will most likely use fake, fabricated names. In some cases, people will do fake reviews about a competitor of yours, so to get good reviews they have to be friends with the businesses they are trying to put down. Or they'll pretend to be ordinary customers, but really they're just hired guns.

Can you bot Google reviews?

I am reading this article on how to improve Google SEO (from 2nd position to #1) and they are suggesting to get fake reviews. I am a bit confused, it seems this is legal to get reviews, even if you don't pay for them? Is there any other way of improving your page ranking? Should I be worried about my Google SEO? Replies to This Discussion. I've recently started buying the reviews in my niche and it has paid off for me. People love when they get a review. My one big problem is that I have no idea how to go about buying reviews from people that can verify that they are real. Anybody know of a good place to go about doing this?

For us it is about having our reviews sit on top when we go to google searches like when someone was looking for an example product or service. A good rule of thumb is to search how many people bought a certain product from a certain site, then research the site and see what it had to offer to sell. If the person didn't sell the product to you, its highly unlikely they will sell it to anyone else. It all comes down to what the person selling the product or service is selling.

If you are the only one who buys from a particular site then it is easy enough to buy reviews from that site. I agree with what everybody else says except maybe buy reviews from people who are more active in your niche. This way you get more activity which would in turn mean more reviews.

As I understand its just some websites out there on the web that has a button or something where you click it and they put a review for you (you can do it yourself) . There are sites that allow you to buy reviews and I did this myself years ago. It works fine but, you have to be prepared for the worst scenario. You could get someones reviews from the same website you buy reviews from. They are usually cheap and sometimes they end up with a bad review as well.

Can Google detect fake reviews?

In the past, Google has been able to detect a lot of things in a page.

And I can't help it, but I am wondering about reviews.

I have a competitor that is pretty new and I know they are manipulating reviews to give themselves an edge. How can I see if Google can detect them? And also, how do they do that? What happens is that they go in and use their own review system on their own product pages. And they can be sure that what they are doing is better than the competition. And sometimes, they even make fake reviews. The question is, can they be detected by Google? If they are, then how?

It's a little bit hard to answer since we don't know what they are doing, or how exactly they do it. Re: Google detects fake reviews. I can't give you any advice without knowing the details of what they are doing. However, I will say this. You can never ever trust the reviews of someone who doesn't understand the products you are talking about. For example, I cannot trust a person who says "Well, I have a really good experience with it". That doesn't really tell me anything. Instead, I want to see what other people are saying. I also want to see whether they are willing to say something negative about it so I can be sure that they have actually had a good experience.

I really need to see the process they use because there is no way of knowing.
