What does input-output global do?
I know that the purpose of input-output global is to be able to see and change the state of a network.
But what exactly happens when I change a network's state? Does it just update all nodes, or does it update each one individually? And how do I go about changing the state of a network? You have to read the documentation which will explain everything: When you call input-output global, it will not actually trigger the input or output method for the node. Instead, it just displays the node's state (or outputs the state as text, depending on the node's type) and triggers all the inputs of that node.
Calling input-output global doesn't change the state of a node. It just updates the output display of a node to display the current value of its outputs.
The nodes can also be hidden by passing a true value as the parameter to the display method.
How many people work at IOHK?
In the early years, in 2024 and 2024, we were like a tiny company with a bunch of people who worked on stuff.
Now we're about 20-30 people and we do some really cool stuff.
What was the first thing you built? One of the earliest things I did was an account management system. We've done hundreds of projects over the years, but my first public contribution was this account management system that had all kinds of interesting features for managing accounts.
What do you remember most from being a miner? I think the experience of building something that you can't really imagine how it will work until it is finished. We build stuff that we didn't know anyone else would want to use. We were building things for ourselves and it was fun. When we decided to open it up, there were a lot of people who were curious to learn about what were doing. It became clear that weren't really the only people using it.
We've been working on Eth2 for about four years now. Has there ever been a point where you have said 'this is the last part of the project, we're done'? We have never reached that point. This might sound crazy, but we love the open source community. This was an area were excited about exploring, so we started putting our ideas into code, and other people were excited about that and they want to put their ideas in there as well. The ideas keep growing and expanding.
Is the community around Eth2 the most diverse community that you have ever seen? Yes, a lot of the Eth2 community is people who are part of the Ethereum community, but a lot of people don't understand why they would want to work on it. They're like but I thought that I would be doing this on a private network and not on a public network, what is the purpose of this? The community is also quite international and global, so we've been getting more and more people who are outside of the US and the EU joining the project.
Ethereum has such a strong relationship with so many communities. I guess we're one of the closest communities to the actual blockchain that exists.
