Which is the best free VPN?

Is Proton VPN trustworthy?

I'm very skeptical of the whole concept of ProtonVPN.

They make it sound so easy to use, and they have a very clean website with nice graphics, however I've tried it for a few months now and I still haven't found any good reason to use their service. They claim their VPN service is based in Switzerland, but their website isn't even on the Swiss server and the SSL certificate doesn't even show the company name. But, I have to admit that their website does look nicer than most other VPNs websites, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. And when you actually enter into their trial, and the pricing scheme they go on to tell you how much you would save if you paid through their browser extension or premium version, which gives them an advantage over other providers.75 per month, but their claims seem to be a bit deceptive.75 per month discount or if it is more like buy 5 months and get 3.75 months free because it's hard to figure out if it's a monthly or annual fee. But even then, most of their users only use their free version, which makes me question their reliability.

For example, they say that they are based in Switzerland. Their main servers are in Amsterdam, USA, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Germany, France, Canada and United Kingdom. How can a company based in a country such as Switzerland have servers in such distant places as the US? Or why is their main server in Amsterdam, an incredibly large city with many different countries? Does it mean that ProtonVPN is going to give you access to the entire internet if you're outside the Netherlands? The only way I can see this is if they have servers in different areas for the Dutch speaking users. Even then, they shouldn't have servers in cities like Los Angeles. If they really wanted to make such a claim, they would have to claim that they have a US, UK, Canada, German and Spanish server, as well as a server in New Zealand. But they only have servers in the US, Germany, France and Canada.
