How do I reset my Chrome proxy settings?
I installed the free extension on my Gmail (Version 4.2) and my google docs(Version 1.22), and now every time I click one of these, I get an error message "Your proxy server is causing this page to load slowly. Please try again later." I need to change the proxy settings to connect to the internet, but I cant find it anywhere.
You are right. I am logged in to my account using a proxy server.
What I want to do is change to use the internet and not the proxy server. Thanks for the info, thats exactly what I needed. Now can you recommend what I should do to make the proxies the default choice? I changed it in chrome settings, but it didnt stick. What should I do to get rid of them permanently?
The options page in IE doesn't offer it as a setting; in fact, the setting was previously just called "proxy," which may explain your trouble. In that case, you'll have to change a registry key (if possible) or manually add/modify entries in two places: the Chrome application settings (Control Panel > System > Advanced > Environment Variables > User variables, and then add the lines to the text box, then restart Chrome) and HKEYCURRENTUSERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionInternet SettingsProxyServer=yourproxyandport (or leave it blank if it's already set to no proxy). That worked perfectly! So if I put the IP address into this, like 192.168.0.1, it would work?
Or is it just 192.1 and the port will not be necessary? My ISP is not allowing me to connect to their internet server so I cant change my IP address and they do not mention port numbers so I assumed there wasn't one. Also it said on my router it's using a dynamic IP address. Just using the public DNS. It should be noted that I'm connected to the local internet, and the issue is only with Chrome. Thanks
Sorry, that didn't work. I made sure that the port number was correct and the correct IP address was entered, yet when I go to google.com, it still won't connect to the google servers unless I give it a proxy, even though I've set my Chrome proxy settings to no proxy.
How do I check my proxy settings?
Check the following (in Windows): Open System Properties. Open the Advanced tab. In the "Internet Settings" sub-tab, click the "Connection" link. Click the "LAN Settings" button. You should see something like this: If you don't, you might have a proxy server enabled in one or more of the following places (as suggested by this answer): The System Tray. The Internet Options control panel. The Default programs control panel. The Internet Explorer control panel. Other things to check include: Do you have a firewall enabled? Can you access sites like archive.org and other servers that require HTTPS?org and other servers that require https? Do you have a proxy server enabled? Can you access archive.org with your browser and check the response?
How do I find my proxy settings on Windows 10 Chrome?
You'll need to download proxy list software like PROXY MANAGER (www.proxymngr.com).
Download the appropriate browser executable program for Windows XP or Vista or 7. If you download the executable (zip file) you need to unzip the file and point your default web browser to "C:PROC~1PROXY~1.EXE" or where ever is the Proxy list directory. Do not point to the executable zip file.
Find your Proxy list directory by opening Chrome, clicking FIND in the upper right corner of the screen. Then click CUSTOM. Select Custom, and a window will open. Enter "chrome://proxy-server/" and press ENTER (not FIND). You will see a list of web browsers and operating systems. It will be empty for you unless you additional browsers.
Select Chrome and press ENTER. Press the button that says 'Apply'.
You can also search for your proxy by going to: chrome://settings/ and navigating to Network. If the settings are saved when you restart Chrome then your settings have applied. If not, then restart the browser.
Once you set up your Proxy settings once, they should work for multiple browsers and even for several computers on the same LAN. The only other thing you may need to do is go to the "chrome://flags/" shortcut (F12) in the Chrome address bar. Check if the "Enable Proxies" box is checked. If it's not set to on, then you may need to install some kind of proxy software.
Hi again, This link you provided (?) only works for chrome - ie - if you were to change your settings through the options mentioned, they would not be saved. I found out the hard way that one has to be manually changing all these options on the page by page basis, as they do not get saved into the system. My work computer seems fine with this one, which leads me to believe the problem is my local machine, as it is a windows 10 laptop with no additional software installed.
