How do I fix proxy authentication required?
I'm using the latest Firefox (36.0.2) on Windows 7 x64, and I have a problem where proxy authentication is required to access some sites. For example, using the Google search engine will result in the following error:
Proxy Authentication Required. The page you requested was loaded over HTTPS, but it requested an insecure script. "". This request has been blocked; the content must be served over HTTPS.
Google needs to send cookies to your browser in order to proceed. If I click "OK" to load the site, everything loads fine. I suspect it has something to do with a cached version of the site on my machine or something else. The cache settings are all turned off, and if I clear the cache for the site using the settings in Firefox, the error still occurs. This only seems to happen in Firefox, not Chrome. The proxy setting in Firefox is set to Use system proxy settings.
The sites that require authentication only work in Firefox. I have tried setting them in Internet Settings as suggested in this question, but they do not resolve the issue. I have also tried a workaround that disables the security certificate verification in Firefox, but I do not know if that is a valid approach.
Does anyone know a way I can turn off the "authentication required" prompt without breaking the site? I found a workaround for the above problem. I'm not entirely sure what is causing it, but instead of the "Proxy Authentication Required" prompt I get the following error when I enter a bad username or password: "Your username or password is incorrect. You need to check that you are spelling it correctly."
I haven't seen this kind of error before and I suspect that I would never actually get into my account unless the username was spelled correctly. Since it does not throw an actual SSL error like the "Proxy Authentication Required" error, it is easy to ignore.
What does proxy setting mean on iPad?
I have bought the iPad yesterday, I have tried to install a proxy setting program, but there are some questions left, here is my question, could someone give me a detailed answer? I think after set up all the ip settings correctly, so all computers will find the internet. In this article, it told: But how do I know if the proxy setting successfully, because I also want to use some proxy server to access internet by using VPN program like OpenVPN. Does the internet connection can be accessed with proxy setting app or with VPN? Does all the iPads in the same house can use the same proxy setting? How do I setup a proxy setting program, any step by step explanation? Thanks for the help. To use a proxy with VPN you need to specify the Proxy Type, Proxy Server IP address and use a VPN that supports SOCKS. As far as I know, you cannot use both, however you can do either and you can always choose between using a proxy vs. The Proxy Setting App simply configures your iPad to use a fixed internet proxy on a specified IP address. In your case the IP is 192.168.0.23 (which is a local IP).
If you are using a cellular network or not connecting to an ethernet network, the Proxy Setting app will create a temporary Wi-Fi hotspot on your iPad and set it as the current connection, to allow web sites to load faster for those connected to it. If your iPad is connected to WiFi or through your cell network, the Proxy Settings app will not be used.
Should configure proxy be on or off on iPad?
I just started developing apps for the iPad, and noticed that I am unable to connect to a website unless I disable configure iOS proxy on. What happens is that it tries to configure the proxy if I have it enabled, and then connects directly if I disable it. Does anyone know of any reason why this is happening? Is it because it's trying to connect to an iPad rather than an iPhone? I'm using a third party iPhone emulator on my mac, and would like to develop for the iPad.
Thanks! EDIT: I'm using MobileFlux (an app to create Mobile apps) and also the Mobile Simulator in XCode. Are you running an app from your Mac or are you connecting to a website using an iPad? If the latter, I've had this problem before, and it ended up being that MobileFlux was changing my connection type to Cellular when I was using my iPad directly and not from a Mac. Try the exact same steps that you did to try to connect to your site from your Mac and verify that you still have the problem. If it does, I would think that this might be a bug with MobileFlux or the Simulator because they shouldn't be changing that setting.
This does sound very strange, I would need to know more about how exactly you are setting this up. What OS are you running on the Mac, which version of iOS Simulator are you using on the iPad and which version of MobileFlux?
