Should I uninstall Power Automate?
I've been using it for about a year now.
I can do pretty much everything in it that I can do in Azure Automation, but I always have this nagging feeling in the back of my head that Power Automate will eventually become obsolete and I will have to migrate my solution.
What are the possible reasons you should uninstall Power Automate? Power Automate is designed for automation and management. These are very complex tools that cost money and time to develop and maintain.
A large part of it being so complex is because it has become bloated with all kinds of things that just don't add any value to me. It won't replace your Azure Automation agent on your web app. You still need an Azure Automation agent on your web app to be able to run the automated deployment tasks. You could use either Microsoft or Logic apps to create the tasks, but still.
It won't work well if you already have hundreds of Azure resources. Microsoft Power Automate is not an orchestration system like Azure Automation is. If you use the automation features of Power Automate it still requires each resource to have its own automation agent, like it does for Azure Automation, which will make it harder to manage, and require more time to get running for your project.
It isn't easy to run a Power Automate playbook from a different location than where the agent is running. For me that means having to install some kind of VPN client, which is a lot of extra work. I used the free Tunnelbear program.
I could add other reasons, but those are the three big ones. I've also looked at the other cloud platforms with some sort of automation in them and none of them meet all my requirements. Should I delete all my resources from Power Automate? To delete all your custom properties you could do it from the Resource Explorer and then press Delete. You need to be logged in as a privileged user in order to delete custom properties. The same goes for the rest of your objects. I know you can also delete a whole group of objects, but you need an additional administrator role.
But waityou don't need to do that! I found another way of going about this and it wasn't too difficult.
Does Google have an automation tool?
I have a client who has a very old, very large website. The domain is over 14 years old, the content has been updated a few times (including a huge redesign/update), but nothing really is automated. The only automation I've seen is in the form of a cron job to move some folders around or copy files into a new directory.
So, what does Google do that can be considered an automation tool? (besides all the things we know about, like Adsense and Analytics). If it's just one or two keystrokes, I'm not interested. If it's a series of complicated tasks, then it would be nice.
Edit: I want something that Google uses itself. No scripts, no plugins, no frameworks, just simple code written to automate a task.
Yes, Google does. They have several tools that make it very easy to build automated tasks for webmaster tools, including adding custom reports, making sitemaps, and sending XML sitemaps. It also has API's that can be used to interact with Google Search Console.
The most useful automation tool for me has been Google Webmaster Tools. It was the first time I got an "aha!" moment - aha! There is a tool that makes my life easier! I use it to track spam on a couple of websites and there is a button you can click on which will generate a site report for you and email it to you with links to the reports in it. I don't actually use it for much else but it has been useful to me.
I think it would be useful for SEO's to try and automate a few things, for example to run a site: query on all pages on a website and find all the keywords that appear in a page. I use the tool Google Analytics for this purpose. I'd also like to see something that I could use to automate the removal of images from a site. The site has many pages where the only image is the logo. Many of them are duplicated across many pages, so in a few minutes, I can get thousands of images. I'd like to see a way to automatically remove the images after a period of time.
If I had a web property that has a lot of duplicate pages, I'd like to see a tool to automatically clean up that site.
Does Google have a workflow tool?
I have a team that work very tightly within Sharepoint (2013), for quite some time now. They are now trying to get themselves set up with a Git workflow and they've been asking me if there's an app that works with Google Drive (which has native git-support) that can manage their workflow effectively.
I'm not talking about a third-party Git-hub plugin that you could install in your current Gdrive account, I'm looking for something where you upload code directly to a repo in the app itself and see their "pull/push" messages when stuff gets accepted, something that also helps to identify when stuff is deleted after it got accepted. Is there such an app, or any alternatives that may work for them? And if there's nothing out there, perhaps the developers at google themselves might have some suggestions? Sounds like you are looking for one of the workflow apps that uses the Google Drive cloud for storage. In my experience, many such apps do not really use Google Drive well. They rely too much on the Google Drive API, which does not support push for now. That makes the system fragile.
For example, I used to use Google's internal Docs-based workflow app called Collabora Workflow from their company before Google decided to no longer give support to it and removed it from the store. I liked the app, but it was fairly buggy, and it could not sync files that were stored on other Google services like Google Photos (which supports push notifications).
Other apps use Google Drive as an additional storage location for the files they are managing. When the files are added, edited, and committed, these apps trigger a push notification.
If you really do need to move Git to Google Drive, I'd suggest that you simply store your Git repos in Google Drive files using one of these apps. This also means that your files are protected from being deleted by one of your users. But the downside is that your files are still not stored by Google Drive. I don't know of any apps that solve this problem, other than to simply store your files somewhere that is synced with Google Drive.

The company rolled out Power Automate in 2026 and in 2026 it launched two new services: Power Automate for Service Cloud and Power Automate for Salesforce. The company also introduced a new business unit for Power Automate - the Platform & Tools team - that aims to make the platform more developer-friendly and easier to use.
