Why is AdBlock not working Firefox?
It's a frequent problem: in Firefox and Google Chrome, you go to a website, and right there in the address bar, the browser tells you that you are not allowed to display ads on the page, and that you need to install an extension to fix it.
The most common solution is to click the "Yes" button, and all is well.
This seems to be a common problem for non-technical users. How can I solve it? As a web developer, I find this annoying. Why do we have to tell our users that we don't allow ads on our site, and then they click the "Yes" button, which is the wrong button, and then they spend two minutes trying to figure out why their browser won't load the page? I'm not sure what to recommend for a non-technical user. What is this ad-blocker extension for Firefox called? Firefox's addon, the one installed by default, is called Adblock Plus. (Actually, Adblocker Plus is just one of several addon packs, like the official mozilla-central repository, that include many addons.)
Can I install AdBlock Plus from Google Chrome? Yes, but only if you use Chromium. Not if you use Google Chrome.
Is this safe? Is it just a scam? AdBlock Plus is completely open source, with a MIT license. See the AdBlock Plus site for a list of contributors.
AdBlock Plus is the most popular ad blocker extension in the world, based on the number of users. It's an extension and does not change your browsing habits. It just blocks ads on pages where the ad-blocking plugin is active.

Is it possible to make AdBlock Plus block all advertisements on Firefox? No, it's not. AdBlock Plus works only on pages where the ad-blocking plugin is active. The first time you visit a site that uses AdBlock Plus, AdBlock Plus will offer to install the extension for you.
Where is the AdBlock button on Firefox?
Is it built-in the Firefox, or do we need to download an extension to add it?
Is there a way to hide the address bar in Firefox? I don't think the AdBlock button is built-in Firefox. This opens the "Add-ons" dialog box.
Click "Add", and search for "Adblock". Select the Adblock Plus extension and click "Install now". Click "OK". You can now close the "Add-ons" dialog box by clicking "Close". The "Stop blocking ads" button will be shown when you click a blocked ad. I don't think it is built in, but that's just my opinion. AFAIK, there is no extension that hides the address bar. Hope it helps.
How do I turn AdBlock back on in Firefox?
If you had an option to turn AdBlock off in your browser, you can use the same options and features as you have disabled or enabled the feature. You also can download a new browser that has added a toolbar with built-in features for blocking ads. This toolbars are part of the free version, Firefox Developer Edition. To try this browser go to Mozilla Marketplace at The features are called NoScript Plus, Privacy Badger, and uBlock Origin. There is a screenshot here.
If you're using the Internet Explorer 8 browser, you can download AdBlock Plus from its main web site. It uses the same tools and options as it did in IE6. () You can also try other popular free browser extensions that disable ads to see which one blocks ads the best.
AdBlock Plus works well on Chrome, Opera, and other browsers as well as extensions for Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. I have used all of these techniques on many web sites during more than twenty years. I first learned about Internet censorship in China where I did some work for Chinese-language web sites. A lot of Chinese web sites are being re-written so they don't have any of these advertising features. Some ads on some non-Chinese websites are still available to me when I connect with another IP address if I look carefully. It is easy to set those up. I believe the Internet infrastructure has some level of filtering as it has to prevent the distribution of information such as child pornography.
I have now used the following free tools to block ads including AdBlock Plus but I have found no way to activate it again in Firefox. I have been asking for years how to change it back on. It seems I cannot do this. No other options or configurations.
One possible way is if I was a user that had turned this function on before but later turned it off. Could I still use the current firefox.exe to get things installed on new installations without having to repeat this installation or manually find and run the installer that is stored on my desktop?
