Does AdBlock Plus work on iOS?
I know that some people use Adblock Plus, but I do not know if it will block my ads on the site or not. I'm using an iPhone. Please let me know! Thanks.
Dani.e. Hi Dani.e. AdBlock Plus is not yet available for iOS devices. I recommend checking out our blog post for the latest news and a detailed FAQ for additional info on the current status of AdBlock Plus on mobile. You can also check out our list of great alternatives to AdBlock Plus for iOS devices.
We're also about to launch the first beta version of AdBlock Plus for Android, so you can get involved and help us improve the mobile experience. And if you just can't wait, you can download our AdBlock Plus for Android Beta release for the latest news and updates about the beta.
Thanks for your patience while we work on these developments, and happy browsing! I have a question: is it possible to use AdBlock Plus as a web browser? I would love to use it, but only I don't have an iPhone or an iPad I just want to browse and I want to stay on the same site. I'm using a Google Android tablet, but it doesn't have a full screen mode. Can you help me?
Lucia. Hi Lucia. I'm sorry to hear that you're still having trouble finding a solution for your Android tablet. It looks like you're one of the only people who have reported issues with this kind of experience.
AdBlock Plus works by replacing your ads with a simple message that says, This site has no ads. As you can see from the screenshot below, your ad still appears at the top of the screen. So, when you press the back button to leave your site, the ad will still appear. It's kind of a neat feature when combined with other extensions that offer similar functionality.
However, I'm afraid that we don't have any solutions currently for AdBlock Plus on Android devices. If you're still interested in trying it, the best bet would be to try our mobile beta release.
Sorry, but it's not possible right now.
How do I get AdBlock Plus on Safari?
From here you'll want to download the Adblock Plus Safari Addon here.
It is pretty self explanatory, once you've downloaded it and added it to your bookmark bar, you can click the blue ad blocker icon on any site you visit and have it applied to that page.
How do I get Adblock Plus on Chrome? Chrome has a similar Safari addon. You can get it here.
What do I need to make this work on a tablet? When you are on the desktop version of the website, select the mobile menu item at the bottom of the page. If you're not able to see that option, head to your browser settings and make sure that "Use mobile data" is turned off.
From there you can enable the Adblock Plus mobile browser extension to get Adblock Plus on mobile. Why don't some of the ads here work? Most of the ads on this website are served by third-party advertising networks. Adblock Plus does not control those networks, nor do we know what they are doing with your information. Sometimes they provide us with analytics, like the number of impressions and clicks an ad received. At other times, they simply send us a link to a page where you can enter personal information (your email address, for example) so they can try to sell you something. When you first see the banner or ad, if you don't want to fill out the form, just click the X in the upper right corner.
What's wrong with that? Sometimes when you click the X you don't get redirected to a page to complete a form. In those cases, you can click the address bar and copy the address. This should take you to a page where you can decide whether to enter your information.
Should I block ads? Most of the ads we serve are unobtrusive. They display below the fold and they don't try to trick you into interacting with them. But there are always exceptions.
If you get hit by annoying popup ad that takes you to a site that makes offers or requests for your personal information, you can always use the above techniques to get away from it.
Is there a way to get AdBlock on iOS?
I'm getting sick of all the annoying adverts that are popping up in random places on websites I visit.
The way I see it, I have two options: I can either pay for an ad-free web browsing experience, or I can install a piece of software that messes up my browsing experience.
I would prefer the second option. I'm a student and I don't have a lot of money to spend on such things. I've tried AdBlock on OS X, and I've been unable to find a way of installing it on iOS. I would like to be able to use a piece of software to block ads, but I can't find it anywhere.
I'm looking for the same functionality as AdBlock for OS X, so any suggestions on how to get it would be greatly appreciated. EDIT: There is a similar app called "Adblocker Lite" that does exactly what I want, and has an iOS version. It's really good. I'm hoping that Apple doesn't mind me sharing this information.
I'm not trying to be a dick, but you're going to have a hard time finding something that will work on iOS (and most likely Android). This is because iOS apps are sandboxed in that they cannot make outgoing network connections. Unless you're willing to jailbreak your phone, or install an app like Adblocker Lite, there's no way to do this.
If you were willing to hack your phone, you could use something like iAdblock to inject a DLL into the app and have it do the work for you. But since that's not an option, you're left with just the second option.
Adblock for iOS is free, as is Adblock for Android. I've been using Adblock for both for over two years now and I don't have any complaints. I even just bought a new Macbook Air so I'd be more inclined to be upgrading my current Macbook Pro to a newer model with Retina display.
There is one feature of Adblock for iOS that isn't available in Adblock for Android: the ability to hide all ads. I like the iOS version better for that feature. But if you just want to block ads for some sites, you can do that with Adblock for iOS.
